what is the deal with the truss rod cover on this guitar? i had a horizon red and my truss rod cover was inset into the wood, not above it. I just checked out some other demos and they are the same as mine, but yours is above

Some wonderful tones coming off that fretboard sounding the way a good Martin should sound like. I have a Martin DC Aura which i has the Fishman electronics in it & i love the hell out it & as Martin often does with fine guitars; they stopped making it as a deluxe model altogether so the cost went from 1800 bucks in 2005 to 4000 if you can find a used one at all as owners will hang on to them tight as a drum. Kudos to Lief for playing a fine melodic little piece, very fine indeed. This guitar sounds great but that's not a surprised for a Martin of quality. As nice as it is to shell out close to 9000 bucks you can find a more affordable acoustic unless you're a total pro. That's just way too much moola for the majority of us. 👀

Great playing and lovely tone. I’ve got one too, though long ago it was refinished a non-original color and the fretboard was replaced by an L5 fretboard. The rest of the neck and the tailpiece are original, so it sounds and feels like a ‘37 L7 should. I added a floating DeArmond RC1100 pickup (Guild/Cordoba reissue) which seems to suit it well, especially when mixed about 50/50 with its mic’ed voice. I see a mic facing the pickguard, but I also see an under-saddle pickup and a fender amp. Are we hearing just the mic or a mix of the two sources? I’d appreciate any insight on how you achieved this lovely recorded voice.

Well played. Has it got a nice action and easy to play? By play i mean how hard you have to fret the strings?

Why do you guys on this Channel look so much like and play so well like certain famous musicians? This one looks like Mark King -- Level 42. There's another guy here that looks like Dominic Miller. How about the guy with beard and long hair? Is he from Kansas or the Allman Brothers? You guys are stunt doubles with very fine musical ability.

Very nice playing. Sounds great -- you're talented! However, being this is a rather unique guitar with a small sound hole in addition to the f-holes it should offer a different sound than most archtops. I'm sure you kno this would be due to the vibrations sent from the strings through the small sound hole inside the resonance chamber which would create sound waves in the air inside and the wood in a different way, mostly audible out through the f-holes. Of course it was meant to be played acoustically, otherwise they would have designed it with magnetic electronic pickup capability. Sorry, not to be rude or critical, but you have ruined that hole concept by shoving a pickup in the sound hole (one of the most important parts of the design). Essentially, you are now playing an electric hollowbody very similar to countless others -- e.g., gretsch, gibson, guild, etc . . . All very nice guitars but not what this was designed to be. PLEASE mic the guitar and play it again so we can see how it was built to sound, in case we want to buy one. Then, you will really be showing us something! As it is now, this demonstration is essentially no different than thousands of other videos demonstrating some nice jazz licks. Buy the way, you look like Dominic Miller, play about as good as him too. You should contact Sting. He might need a back up on reserve, in case Dominic gets sick or needs a vacation or something. The audience will never know.

Thanks for your comment Garrett! We received the guitar with the pickup build in, that's also the way we sold the guitar so that's why. It has been sold for quite a while so we won't be able to record a new video.

@@tfoademos3809 Absolutely mangles the sound, so yes. $50 capsule in a bunch of repurposed plumbing. They make every single guitar sound the same. They were designed (poorly) for feedback rejection in live amplified settings, not audio fidelity AT ALL. Get a Schoeps or a Neumann.

very nice. i have the near twin, except that back in the 60s Gibson put a pickup in it...the acoustic tone is similar to yours, but lacks the projection...perhaps cutting a brace or lack of top vibration. i purchased it back in the early 2,000s thinking it was one of the nicest looking necks i have ever encountered and a rare piece. where was reverb when i needed it.
