Hi there! I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Regarding your question, yes, this version from the book is indeed usable for the ABRSM exam. ABRSM has recommended using Ben Crosland: Cool Beans!, Vol. 1 (Editions Musica Ferrum) for both the 2023/2024 and 2025/2026 syllabuses and that's the version I used. Here are the links to the syllabuses for your reference: 2023/2024 (Grade 6 C6): chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/www.abrsm.org/sites/default/files/2024-06/Piano%202023%20%26%202024%20Prac%20syllabus%2020230807.pdf 2025/2026 (Grade 6 C8): chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/www.abrsm.org/sites/default/files/2024-06/Piano%202025%20%26%202026%20Prac%20syllabus%2020240524_access.pdf Hope this helps! 😊

Hello, Thanks for your sharing. In the bar of 25, how should I play as my left hand is not large enough to play FCGA?
@typianoland32032 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for your support! I'm so sorry for the late reply. It has been a hectic time for me. I would first start by pressing the bottom two notes, F and C. Then, I’d release the bottom F while continuing to hold the C. Use your index finger that's still holding the C as an anchor point to rotate your left hand horizontally from left to right. This allows you to reach the top two notes, G and A, which you can play with your thumb. Alternatively, you can release both F and C, then shift your left hand slightly to the right to play the G and A with your thumb. In both methods, you'll need to use the pedal to carry the sound of the bottom F and C through bar 25, as they are semibreves. I can make a short video to explain this next week, as I'm fully occupied this weekend.

Ma’am, is it possible to take this piano grading exam on a keyboard, online? I have a 76 key keyboard but no piano, please guide me.
@typianoland32033 ай бұрын
Hello, I haven’t personally tried completing graded exams online on a keyboard, so I’m not entirely sure of the best answer to the question. However, I’ve heard that some candidates have successfully completed their Grade 1 exams (earlier syllabuses) on keyboards. So, I suppose you can try it for the 2025/2026 Grade 1 exam if your keyboard meets the following criteria: 1. Weighted Keys: Make sure your keyboard has weighted keys, which allow you to produce a range of sounds from loud to soft by varying the pressure on the keys. This feature is crucial for effectively expressing musical dynamics. 2. Sustain Pedal: Your keyboard needs to be connected to a sustain pedal if you want to play B2 and C2 in the 2025/2026 Grade 1 repertoire to convey the character and style of the music. (the pedaling is optional for A3) The ABRSM exam board assesses online performances on aspects such as tonal control, dynamics, musical shape, and the communication of character and style. Having a keyboard that supports these features can help you achieve higher marks. For exams above Grade 1, I would still suggest using a piano. Pianos generally provide better tonal quality and a wider dynamic range compared to keyboards. I hope this helps. Good luck with your piano exam :)

Where did you find C4? my book only reaches C3
@typianoland3203 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I found C4 from the piano book “The Joy of Boogie and Blues” (Yorktown Music Press), selected and arranged by Denes Agay and Gerald Martin. Attached is the website address for the 2023/24 grade 5 repertoire lists where you can find which piano books to buy for the list a/b/c 4 to 13 songs. us.abrsm.org/media/66589/piano-2023-2024-grade-5.pdf I bought my copy from a Yamaha store (Singapore). You can also find the book on Amazon (Singapore) www.amazon.sg/Joy-Boogie-Blues-Vol/dp/0711901171. Sheet Music Plus is also one of my favorite online stores to purchase music books (but it’s based in the USA) (www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/the-joy-of-boogie-and-blues-sheet-music/3609045) I hope you find this information helpful. 😊

You may also find the book (2021&2022) on, e.g. Shopee (Singapore) shopee.sg/product/153146897/22710992413?gclid=Cj0KCQjwtsCgBhDEARIsAE7RYh0QN80hdrL0HIu84D-ibsjtKDXnyuDQqzrjod_eD0oWnecJdHOKf1EaAsUNEALw_wcB For the new 2023&2024 syllabus, ABRSM suggests we play the song from the book "A Dozen a Day Songbook, Book 2 (Willis)". I am unsure whether there are any differences between my book and "A Dozen a Day Songbook 2". Anyway, you may buy it from www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=A+Dozen+a+Day+Songbook%2C+Book+2+%28Willis%29 (I purchase many of my music scores from this online shop when I can't find them in Singapore)
