For clarity the original plugs are Champion AG or CH39. These are long element 9 volt plugs and require the ballast resistor and relay fitted behind the dash. They are no longer available. Modern replacements ( incorrectly sold as direct replacements) are 12 volt and tend to have shorter elements such as Champion CH32. These newer plugs require a 12 VOLT SUPPLY so the ballast resistor and relay should be bypassed otherwise they will not reach the full temperature. The glow plugs should be removed every 800 hours and the holes cleaned out using an 11/64 twist drill.

Looking at all the muck in the bottom of the pump glass bowl its time to clean out the fuel system starting with the filter in the tank.
