Cards that already exists, require minimal hours to create, and are priced at 2, 3, or even 4x higher reflecting the after market demand of the cards thanks to supply. Also mtg margins arent 40-50% like on board games, or even the 20% you get from GW. The margins are frequently 1/10th of that. Theres been extremes where LGS makes $1 per box because the distribution price wotc asks are too high to sell. Wotc is at an empass, the pricings have made it where everyone now plays the eternal format which leads to wotc increasing prices to make up the difference and stores get squeezed in the middle. That was the reason for meta or set rotation and the reserve list in the early days. If a reprint set was sold to stores for the normal price of a box, but the MSRP was much higher so stores could make a margin thatd be the nice. Theres also the issue that if wotc sold reprints at the appropriate manufacturing price, then theyd be crashing stores inventory over night. Theres also the aspect of the conversation with pokemon where the low print alternate art cards take on so much of the cost of the boxes, that the normal printings are penny bulk.

I didn't even think of blinking exhaust creatures. This would've been an interesting way to use the italicized names of abilities; like if you could only use a named ability once per game.

Yes, people are stupid enough to only count the cost of the cardboard the cards are printed on, absolutely, people have such small brains they cannot add the cost of the hours spent producing the product. The levels of design in the process it has to go through. The company fees for merely existing. Etc.

I honestly don't want the new story to span the whole multiverse like the last few have. War of the Spark and Phyrexia All Will Be One were cool, but doing a third back-to-back multiverse invasion would be over doing it. I would love to see Jace as a villain of a single (or just a few) plane(s). What if new Jace decided that making Niv Mizzet the new Living Guild Pact was a mistake. So he heads to Ravnica and becomes the new head of House Dimir and tries to subtly gain control of the plane to create his Utopia. Instead of a multiverse take over, he could "perfect" planes on a case by case basis, one step at a time. He's focused on the goal infront of him, not the grand multiverse schemes of Bolas and the Praetors.

I’ve actually been on the receiving end of this combo once and it actually wasn’t fully intentional. The player that did the combo initially misunderstood how the Dragon Tempest triggers worked when multiple Dragons hit the board at the same time. They thought that it was just one instance of damage when it wasn’t. They Rolled a 15 I think and the rest of us had to explain how it really worked, and we were all just dead on Turn 5 of what was supposed to be a Mid Power game. They ended up learning about a game winning 2 card combo in their deck that they didn’t realize was their at least (though at the expense of the rest of the pod that game).

I'm confused 😵‍💫. Wouldn't the damage just be double the number you rolled, assuming you only have ancient gold dragon on the field? I know it says "whenever a dragon comes into play," but they all come in at the same time. Not one after another. So wouldn't it basically be 2 damage for each dragon that comes in. (Roll a 20, deal 20 damage from dragons coming in plus 1 tick for each from Ancient Copper Dragon being on the field when they come in).

Elder Dragon is a species classification, so it makes sense that they aren’t Legendary. Themberchaud, on the other hand, is a specific unique Elder Dragon.

Minor correction at 4:55 Jace did not go get Tamiyo to help investigate what was going on on Innistrad. Tamiyo was already on Innistrad investigating what was going on to document it. Jace showed up later trying to convince Liliana to help the Gatewatch, after which he noticed the weirdness going on, started investigating and found Tamiyo's journal which eventually led him to Tamiyo and the crux of the problem. Also just feels a bit odd to call this the full story of Innistrad recap without including Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow 😅
