Excellent comparison, thank you! Have many, many FujifilmX cameras, up to X-Trans III generation. Love and regularly use them all. BTW, IMO 40MP is total overkill for pictures.

I love my X30... I also owned the X10 and X20 before it and it's a much better camera, although I prefer the aesthetics of the earlier models. I guess if we were to classify any 'fixed' lens camera as a 'compact' camera as long as it has proper controls (ruling out Sony RX100 series etc) (and with the exception of DSLR style 'bridge' cameras) then I would argue that the best, and by a wide margin, 'compact' camera is the Olympus Stylus 1 (and s variant). The Stylus 1 is smaller, more customisable etc. yet has a superior lens in that it covers 28-300mm at a constant f2.8 with the only draw-back (for me) being that the lens is motorised, I much, much prefer a manual zooming lens. As for IQ they are on par, fuji and olympus colors are amongst the best. As a walkaround camera I use (and prefer) the X30 but the Stylus 1 is just so much more versatile. It's the greatest 'holiday' camera I've owned (and yes I own ILC but I'm not going to be changing lenses when on holiday with family), the best 'landscape' compact, the absolute best 'concert' and 'live events' camera, can do decent wildlife, and environmental portraits etc.

I'm luck, I have a black one and a silver one I found online at good prices with quite low shutter counts. The thing about it to me is the use of some of the great old glass with the D4 16MP sensor, Nikon developed with those huge photosites that just can produce an amazing look, colours and "atmosphere". I use them mostly for situational portraits, evening shots indoors and out and certain photos. For mainstay I use the Z mount system.

Sensors have a layer of tempered glass protecting it.Almost the same as the one on your phone screen just thinner so it doesn't scratch easy And if you do scratch the sensor it has to be a really deep scratch for it to be seen in photos and only at like F11 and higher. I played with a Zf at Grays of Westminster for half an hour and loved it, but, with a lens on it's no smaller than a DSLR, and, I'm not willing to spend thousands on Z lenses. I know about the FTZ but my AF-D lenses won't work. So I'm sticking with F mount. I have a D780 for important work and I just ordered a DF from Japan for pleasure. I can't wait for it to arrive.

Hi, Here is the message I just sent to the client service. I believe that if enough people show dissatisfaction they might report it as a bug and update the firmware. You can copy/paste if you want! --- Hello, I'm contacting you regarding what seems to be a bug on the 5th generation camera. On all previous generations, when using manual focus, all focus help (focus peaking or focus check for example) disappeared when the shutter release was pressed halfway. This provided a natural view to recompose, if necessary, before taking the photo. On the latest generation, the focus help remains activated even after the shutter has been pressed halfway. This makes the use of manual lenses much less practical. I personally have a Voigtlander 23mm 1.2, and its use was much more practical on my X-T4 and X-T30II. With this lens, focus check was activated automatically by touching the focus ring, and deactivated automatically by pressing halfway. Not any more. This makes it much less convenient to use. Other people have complained about this behavior, for example: - www.reddit.com/r/fujifilm/comments/1f7p3wt/xt50_focus_check_not_exiting_on_shutter_halfpress/ - www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/35255-very-disappointed/ - www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4689635 The FujiRumors website even dedicated an entire article to it, where the vast majority of people said they preferred the old behavior. Many expressed their dissatisfaction in comments: www.fujirumors.com/fujifilm-x-t5-the-issue-with-focus-peaking/ This video also shows the problem, where the videographer says he no longer uses manual lenses with his X-T5 because of this problem: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHSmdGiZnLGXq68 Could you please report this bug to make the use of manual lenses more pleasant? Thank you very much.

I am happy to see your enthusiasm for this camera, which I owned and enjoyed using mainly on sunny days. The main drawback of the X30 is that it's a bit too big and heavy for what it produces. I can't just put it in my pocket or backpack alongside my phone. I'm kind of a smaller old guy who scoots around on a bicycle so I ended up using cheap digicams instead. But oh that sweet lens.
