According to the majority of the sources I've looked at, neither this nor the Passage de Venus is considered to be a true movie. Muybridge used ~2 dozen separate cameras triggered by trip wires, and the P.d.V. was created from separate plates that were converted to viewable form. The first known film taken in real time on a strip of celluloid is widely considered to be Louis Le Prince's Roundhay Garden Scene, from 1888: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ-nY3ien6yqjas&pp=ygUVcm91bmRoYXkgZ2FyZGVuIHNjZW5l

If you watch it in slow motion you can see the frame numbers go up to 16, but number 1 is missing

The most powerful and meaningful experiences of my life. This movie really made me think about the moralities of mankind, It made me think about the duality of good and evil. The entire movie is a rollercoaster of emotions that even the most solid of rocks shed a tear. It made me feel things most humans didn't even think was possible to feel! The bond between the characters was interesting and it makes you really care for them. The twist at the end is PERFECT! from the buildup to the payoff, it was all PERFECT! This movie doen't need a sequel, it's that great!

i dont think this was an actual film, i think it was an up close view of a flip book, idk tbh
@JayKarpwickАй бұрын
You're right. It was groundbreaking work, but not a true film. The horse tripped cords that triggered a couple of dozen separate cameras. The photos were later pasted together so they could be projected.

The horse in motion (1878) was the first film to have a person in it but the first film ever was Passage de Venus(1874)
Both were major advances but neither one is considered by most historians to be a true movie. They consisted of separate images taken individually, then later on pasted together for projection. The first true movie is generally thought to be Louis Le Prince's Roundhay Garden Scene which used a single camera and a moving strip of negative film to record images in real time.

🤣I love hoe everyone keeps commenting that 'Nope" is the sequel to this "Animal Locomotion', yet clearly it is the origin story, as Keke Palmer literally tells us in the movie how this very clip came about. I wouldn't really call it a prequel either, but that's just my opinion.

@JayKarpwickАй бұрын
It's actually a kind of flip-book, composed of separate photos that were later pasted together. It was a major advance but not a real movie according to many historians.

It's more of a flip-book, created by pasting separate images together. P.o.V. is considered to be a major advance but not a true movie.
