New subbie....looking forward to following your journey. I am thinking of getting microlocs one day.

Hi Keisha! Thanks so much for Subscribing 💕. I encourage you to do your research. This has been such a learning process for me. However, I would definitely do it again if given the chance. I love my Locs. Please keep me posted if you decide to make that move. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

I think this would happen to me if I get twists . I guess that’s why she wants me to do interlocks or start with braids
@Subrinia4 күн бұрын
Hi Chrissy, yes there are pros and cons to each way you start but I love the fullness of the two strand twists. I wish she had just interlocked the first two rows and left the rest with the two strand twists. It’s hard to remember what I said in each video but I believe if you watch the last one, you’ll see that the first two rows of the back are now interlocked. Live and learn! lol

Your locs look great! I just got my first retie with the palm roll method. So much of my scalp is showing. Trying to get use to it.
@Subrinia5 күн бұрын
Hi Sandra, Thank you! I’m still not use to it, but I will say that with time it gets better. Somehow, I’m less scalpy after this third retie. I don’t really understand it, but I’ll take it. My Loctitian said it would fill in and it is. Be patient. You notice the difference with a few more appointments. Best wishes and thanks for watching and your comments. ❤️

@ hey! It went so well! She was so informative and nice and we came to a conclusion of how I can pay as far as payments . Right now , I’m gathering my deposit money. I’m hoping to get my installation done in March. The anxiety and waiting is killing me 😭😖

Yay!! I’m so excited for you Chrissy. It will change your life. How will you start yours? Two strand twist or completely interlocked?
@chrissysfitnessjourney5 күн бұрын
@@Subrinia I really wanted two strand but she said because of my hair type she wouldn’t recommend so we settle with starter braid locs. I cannot wait , all I can do now is watch videos until that day . 😩😭

Are you two stranded or braid locd? I'm starting my journey and undecided on the method to use and interested to know your choice.

Hi. I’m so sorry for the late response. My locs were started with a braid and then a two strand twist. I love that it give me volume as opposed to completely locked which would have a flat look. I like big hair! 😂 Thank you for your question and watching ❤️

The music , beautuful as it is,makes it difficult to concentrate on what you saying.so either lower the volume or switch it off, just a suggestion

Hi again Marlene. Thank you for the suggestion. I will keep that in mind for my video this morning. 😊

I am 3 weeks locked. My 4 th time locked . It just kept unlocking. First time I locked I had traditional locks for years. It was by far the best hairstyle I had however it became heavy. I would say watch alot of utube videos and then follow your gut. I have learnt not to spritz at all it causes frizzing. I have been styling my hair cornrows. To keep my hands out. I dont wash often, once a month you can just cleanse your scalp every 2 weeks with ACV mixed with aloe vera gel. Yes hairbands caps even wig will help to cover the awkward stage. I dont like wigs it compromises my edges. But I like hairpieces. Buns . Your hair looks lovely. Congratulations for taking the plunge. I started my locks with 2 strand twists and I started it myself. Massaging your scalp will also help. I oil my scalp about once a week

Hi Marlene, forgive me for the late response. I’m having major issues with slipping. I just had my locks re-tightened yesterday and I’m about to get up and make a new video. As I was telling another viewer, I love big hair so when I wake up in the morning, my hair is completely flat to my head and spritzing helps to give me volume, but I’m also having issues with slipping and budding so I have to use less moisture. The rose water is so soothing. It’s all a big learning process. I can’t go for a month without shampooing. Well, I did once and almost lost my mind! 😂. Everyone’s scalp and emotional state is different and maybe it’s a little of both but the length of time between shampooing is a big thing for me. I have to write these things down so I remember what to talk about in my next video. Thanks again and stay tuned. ❤️

Thank you so very much and welcome to the club! I’m now about 5 weeks in and I’m struggling with some slipping around my hair line and the itch has been crazy after my first lock and tighten but I’m oh so loving my new freedom. This is all just part of the process and so worth it! I’ll update in another week or two. Thanks so much for the support and I hope you will post your journey as well. 😊

About washing your locs…I couldn’t go 4 weeks without washing my locs. My locs were too short to braid and band so I just banded them in sections to shampoo them. Do not apply too much oil to your scalp. This actually causes itching. My itchy scalp went away when I decided to apply a small amount of oil after washing and towel drying my locs only. My next best tip is to massage your scalp with the pads of your fingertips daily. This encourages hair growth. At 2.5 years my locs sit on my collarbones. When I established my locs they were the same length as yours. 😊

Thanks so much for those tips. I’ve just been doing a light sprits on my scalp and I’ve had more slippage at the nape of my neck and a few other places and that’s without washing. I have been massaging daily but find I’m very itchy going into week 5 and six. So much to learn. I will give the banding a try. Thanks again. 😊

Congratulations! I have had my microlocs for 2.5 years and I am still running my fingers through my locs because they feel so good …even tho they have become my new normal. If you’re interested I write a blog “Microlocs and Me: A Woman’s Journey to Hair Freedom”. I write about my locs and different topics pertaining to microlocs. Know that you made an excellent decision. Welcome to this brave new world!💕

Your Locs are beautiful . I am 3 1/2 yrs in and I love them. Enjoy each stage. Sometimes I miss the beginning stage. I would suggest you take pics each month the first year. I still take pics after each retie. You will be surprised when you look back. Enjoy. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Thank you so much. Taking monthly pics is a great idea. I’m struggling a bit with slippage around my hair line and my hair is growing faster than I had imagined it would. Your note has reminded me that I should do another update. Stay tuned and thanks again for your comment. 😊
