im surprised you idiots haven't figured out by now that you need to either fix up the downtown loop or make it 1 way the entire way, that is the main cause of nashvilles congestion. you have 5 lanes going down to 3, then another set of lanes leaving and going down to 1 at the downtown loop. your main cause of traffic is from everyone merging. you reduced that or eliminate the need for merging and your traffic problems are basically solved for I-24, I-65 and I-40.
@willpotter223 ай бұрын
Building more lanes doesn’t work ya’ll should have went with public transit
@Zeakthecat3 ай бұрын
the main cause is the downtown loop with all the merging going on. the secondary cause is lack of public transit. that downtown loop needs to have a huge reduction in ramps, from 5 through downtown to 1 for each end and you fix the interchanges so they don't force you to make a merge to the left, and either seperate em or widen em to more modern urban standards. then you start on public transit, BRT would be a cost effective solution and make it so only industry has a special zone, offices, commercial and apartments are mixed zoning. all of those changes long term and you fix nashvilles traffic till around 2050. then it'll be time to invest in trams and trains.

@@Zeakthecat we wont get any of that with our current governor. Our mayor can only work with city funded roads and not state roads so it will be hard to fix. And democrats havent won our state since 1988, if we had a Andy Beshear type of governor, someone that can reach a lot of rural voters, people that havent voted in a long time because of conservative austerity politics, then maybe we would have a chance of fixing any of this truly statewide.
@Zeakthecat3 ай бұрын
@@willpotter22 democrats won't do shit either. this isn't even a partisan topic, its a serious bipartisan issue that requires a intelligent leader to get stuff done, and NOT a old boomer fuck who will do nothing but drag this state and the country as a whole into the shitter.

@@willpotter22 transportation, much like most other critical needs and welfare projects, are bipartisan in nature. that being said, we won't have a good leader that will basically be sane enough and not tribal/populist for quite sometime. people on both sides no longer want to be smart, they instead want to enforce their own way or its the highway. that is why you won't find a smart leader in the state of tn and won't for the foreseeable future.
@willpotter223 ай бұрын
@@Zeakthecatwhat do you mean bipartisan? 😂 what about conservative politics is bipartisan? Sure their might be a few conservative politicians in the past that were able to do things well (carmel indiana) but nowadays they dont want what is best for anyone

alright im already seeing one major flaw with this that miami learned the hard way when they put their HOT lanes in: the lack of a concrete barrier. drivers will absolutely cut across that white reflector thing just to cheat the tolls and they've done that in miami. florida DOT had to learn the hard way from that, and i would rather not see TN learn the hard way as well.
@thethirdgeneration17384 ай бұрын
Why don’t you just call it what it really is? TOLL ROADS. Just because the Super Majority Republican government in Tennessee turned down Federal money to fix the problem. Instead opting Toll Roads to gouge people who can pay, to make money, off the pain of residents. Shame on all of you being disingenuous.

The law should be no pull overs on the highway. Exits aren’t that far apart. More cops die from getting hit than getting shot. You’re not only killing police but also hurting or killing the people getting pulled over. Stop this nonsense all together and require all traffic stops to be conducted off the highways.

considering ive heard some people say this is long overdue, im gonna go on a limp and say this was probably needed 30 years ago. now 30 years later, its finally getting started but it probably needs to be very muitl-modal to make sure traffic is eventually kept low enough to last to 2040. i hope theres public transportation in alcoa, otherwise that freeway will reach max capacity as soon as it opens.
@finishyourplates6 ай бұрын
24 should be widened to four lanes in each direction in Chattanooga instead of three as you mentioned. The same for 75 between Ooltewah and Exit 20. If you're going to go these great lengths for improvement, adding just one more lane to each side is lazy and not exciting at all. Giving us four lanes on each side is an achievement worth celebrating. Starting these projects in the next year should be the goal.
