Thanks a lot! The Baton 2, you are doing a great job! I am really grateful and impressed that you have been able to put together this mix of Esko Könönen. Highly appreciated! As a Finn, I know well his history - Esko was a super talented accordion player; he just made it all sound so simple - even the most complicated pieces... he interpreted them so well with high accuracy and touch - amazing! He had his booze issues, as many artists have, even in Finland - However, if and when we want to listen to really high-level accordion music from Finland, it is hard to find a more qualified players than Esko Könönen! Cheers, aivan loistavaa haitarin käsittelyä ja tulkintaa!!!

I'm very familiar with this. I used to listen to it when I was a little boy. I loved marches. That was in the early 1950s

The best rendition of this song since John Barry’s original theme, when the soundtrack was released. Barry, I think, would be so very pleased with this version. A beautiful piece of music.

I believe that this tune was used as introductory music by either the CTV or CBC television networks in Canada to their evening news program in the early 1960s. Does anyone recognize that?

My Freshman Year in High School 1975, our Symphonic Band also played this beautiful piece...I never forgot it, (or ever will in my lifetime) as I remember it took the Trombone Section awhile (about a day or two tops) to really get a hold of that "Triple Tounging" that made this song a true Masterpiece! I've always loved this song, 2024 to the day.

These records were originally released in 1952. They were re-released in stereo in 1958, once the 45-45 degree modulation method was decided upon throughout the industry.

As a young man of 15 years, I feel exactly the same. It's interesting how, despite the generational gap, some of the younger generation fosters an interest towards the joys of long gone times, despite never experiencing the past. Even more interesting is how I am still in my childhood, and I am still having experiences and making memories. Someday I will be aged and I might never remember what I am doing now!
