I’m trying to get comfortable with same sex partner dancing; I was not raised with it and so it’s different meaning my brain doesn’t know what to do with it…visually it’s something new. But my heart feels that whatever people want to do is their choice.

You may want to look at it this way. Years ago in the late 90s I think, in my home city (Toronto) we took the sex out of dance - not only west coast swing but other social dances like lindy hop. Instead it is lead and follow. This became popular as it became less a case of being masculine and feminine on the dance floor and more a case of increased skills. It makes it easier for people to teach if they know both sides. I recommend that you watch argentine tango danced with 2 men. That dance started historically with men dancing in pairs.

@@KristineMaitland That’s an excellent explanation!! I don’t dance like this (I’m more of a bounce around shoulder shrug shake my tush kind of dancer lol). But when I was young dancing was kind of a romantic thing. Anyway thanks so much!

Yup- too damn cute for words. Wonderful communication between dance partners- something to emulate- after all dance is about mire that awards; it about connection. I like to think, when it really good, dance is about connecting to best part of humanity and each other! Also, I confess that I like seeing a shorter man having his way with a taller lead.
