Patrick, once told me a story about when Lorne Greene and he used to act on stage in Toronto, I do not remember the name of the troupe, he told me this around 1988.... Every time they would get a 'pittance' of pay, back then, Lorne would try to cajole Patrick into giving some of Pat's $ to him, to invest in a fledgling company. Patrick would always, politely, decline. Patrick said, to me, that when Lorne went off to Hollywood, for that "silly Bonawnza thing"(trying to get his accent) that Lorne was doing 'quite well'! "You see, Allen, that fledgling company was/is...........................................I.B.M. ! Lovely man, was Patrick Macnee! 🪐🌠

Joachim Fuchsberger was a very popular German actor in the 60s and 70s and later he got his own talk show where he proved himself as a marvelous interviewer and great host.

Does anyone know why she is called "Emma?" Because of her "Looks" the guys would just say "Mmm" thus "Emma" and her birth name on the show was "Knight" her married name is "Peel" As that's what all the guys wanted to do with her clothes, "Peel" them off. And there you have it. I watched in the 60's. Do not forget Honor Blackman, A most gorgeous & incredible woman, & the first to pair up with "Steed" who was a Producer at the time whom they convinced to do the show. C'ya, CJ-4-JC 4evr

I just love the idea that Germans were interested and appreciated the show and actors. The format was as it was. Perhaps subtitles were not suitable. What I can say is that translating like that while running the interview is quite an achievement and a mark of skill. I was impressed with the overall format and the desire to provide a feel of the event in progress. Naturally the interplay and reactions of both Diana and Patrick were wonderful. This is a gem, and a slice of 1960's Germany that I am glad to have seen and has been captured.

Diana Rigg was gorgeous the Emma Peel episodes of the Avemgers were for me the high point of the show. I found out the Beatles were even "Avengers" and Emma Peel fans. I know in 1967 Paul McCartney stopped at Diana Riggs home to give her a copy of "Sgt Pepper" which had just come out and said "I just wanted to meet you". Supposedly the cover for "Abbey Road" had ties to the Avengers. According to the son of the director of "The Hour That Never Was". I was curious what she found so funny about Macnees reading the last German line he spoke, but it has been years since I took a German class and not sure what he was supposd to be saying. MacNee supposedly frequently forgot his lines but Rigg reportedly never did. Luckily the Emma Peel years were filmed on 35mm film so the 50+ YO episodes still look good.

Poor Tarick MacNee and Diana Rigg! This must be the most awkwardly directed interview ever! The host sat between the two guests, making himself center of attention, and alternately had to turn his back on each guest. He kept having to interrupt the interview to translate for the audience, and his questions were cringeworthy. Chat shows have improved since then.

In those days Joachim Fuchsberger was in Germany known as actor, who often played private investigators, or other men involved into a dangerous situation outside of Germany. But you could not call him an ,Action movie hero', this type of actor was in 1950s to 1970s German TV/Cinema unwanted, because of NS era Propaganda of Warriors and Masculinity. His Career as actor ended in mid 1970s. Then he became host of TV Shows, at first a Game Show, later a small Show, in which he only talked to in germanspeaking world famous guests. This ended in 1990s. He moved to Australia, and until his death, one time a year, he had a TV Show, in which he showed Clips with intressting persons or places, He saw in Australia. So in late 1960s he was not expierienced with Interviews.
