Superb job from the original writer and producer L.Russell Brown This was my 1st chart record #1 5 weeks in Detroit It should have been #1 but the Stones manager killed this great rock song...

Very cool of you to comment. Absolutely one of the best songs assembled in that era and stands the test of time.

I love redheads, but this version of the song....maybe it'll grow on me.
@nashvillelights12 ай бұрын
That is funny, and I get it. Another response was "what's with the redheads". I'm just having fun here and store these in the closet. Recently toying with a couple cheap synths as my band doesn't play enough to keep me musically engaged. I appreciate your comment. I lost a friend several years back that loved redheads ever since the singer for Garbage. It was for him. Never been with one but.....who knows.

@@nashvillelights1 I was the original drummer for Richard and the Young Lions. I've heard many versions of our song, but nothing like this one. To say the least, it's interesting. But I sure do love redheads.

@@normc.9705 That's awesome. I checked your name out, yep. You're on the bio. It was the drum hits and the guitar lick that rocked that tune but you already know that. Great memories for you I bet. Back then we needed a slow tune and used to play Once Upon Your Smile. I was in Junior High at that time. I'm 72 but still play with The French Lenards. We have an online presence but as I said we don't play but a few times a year. (thefrenchlenard.com) It was great hearing from you!

@@nashvillelights1 We did two other records, "Nasty" and "You Can Make It." We were held back by Bob Crewe. Crewe had a deal with Andrew Loog Oldhan, manager of the Rolling Stone to keep us buried. We didn't find out about that "deal" until 45 years later. "Open up Your Door" should have been a national hit.
@nashvillelights12 ай бұрын
@@normc.9705 That sucked. Well, it was a hit in Cleveland Ohio and if it makes you feel any better it was bands and tunes like yours that we were emulating. Feel free to share any memorabilia if so inclined. I've found this conversation fascinating. ([email protected]) Back then we were catching The Amboy Dukes at the Cyrus Erie (prev.Hullabaloo) and Erik Carmen (RIP) at teen fairs and YMCA dances and Joe Walsh at yacht club dances. There will never be a time again like those in the music biz.

The song is a vibe but what’s up with the redheads….?
@nashvillelights13 ай бұрын
Fair enough. My wife asked me the same question. They were from another project named Red Nancy that never clicked. I needed some eye candy to help fill in my "a little long" song to help evade viewer boredom and thematically they vaguely made sense. I've done better. Thanks for your comment. 5:40 assume camera view is East player, CCW counting 12 (sum of the 3 dices) landed on the palyer on the left (North player). And then counting 12 tiles from the left to cut the wall. Video said counting 7. Do you throw dices a second time? And then for the tiles distribution isn't the East player get the tiles first? Video shows the North player get the first tile.
@nashvillelights12 жыл бұрын
You are a stickler for detail and I commend you on that. Yes the camera angle changed, East gets the 1st 4 of the "deal". All these specifics are easlily identified via the internet for standardized play. My group (who this video is for) uses a 7 tile break as opposed to re-rolling or using the initial roll to determine which wall to break, both of which I've seen. That is because my students (at the time of this video) constantly confused the Flower Box for the Wall and having a consistently shaped Flower Wall helped them. You'll find that house rules are not only permissable but also advantageous to game play depending on your players as long as everyone plays by the same rules. My scoring system does not fall within the actual, but works well for my groups. Thanks for your comment. I still play Malaysian with the group but compete in Riichi. I highly recommend it. It's great fun and up's your game regardless of which other styles you most often play.

I wonder if Singapore and Malaysian (4P) official versions are the same or they actually differ in tile sets or any other rules
@nashvillelights13 жыл бұрын
@@NikitaGamer64 Funny you say that. It's crazy! Singapore 4 man adds instant bonus points to non winners for concealed kongs, paired animals and flower/season pairs but when it goes 3 man the "flies"/faces and whole play of the game changes including omitting tiles. It's a mess of information out there. "Sloperama" can sometimes lead to variation info but it seems that "house rules" for how it works best for you matter the most. I wasn't even able to locate a set with animal tiles short of buying it out of Singapore.

Correction: SGMJ has instant payout for both melded and concealed kongs. Concealed kong get 2X of payout than melded kongs. As for Animals/Flowers pairing if is at start of hand is same rate as concealed kongs, otherwise during the game is at melded kong rate.
