Mate I am Mac user and let me tell you ms keyboard is way better even with Mac. Logitech keyboard is disaste with that numpad. The whole point is the ergonomic and wit h the size you exchange keyboard pain with mouse stretching pain.

So a review after a year and a half using it? Now that is useful! My MS keyboard's letter paint started to disappear after only a period of weeks. I never considered spending this much, but quality does matter. I think I've suffered with my MS keyboard enough now. Time to get a good keyboard.

When you switch the keyboard between devices, does your Logitech mouse switch as well or do you need to do it separately?

To avoid discoloration on the wrist rest, try using Pledge Multi-Surface Cleaner. I have used this over the past 15 years on computer/electronics with no issues.

how would you compare this to the wave? Im coming from the Magic Keyboard having thumb pain and wrist pain. I like the wave so far - few days. Its refreshing to have more travel, but would you recommend this over the new wave?

Every time I stop my Makita 18V LXT string trimmer, the head spins off. I cannot figure out how to tighten it enough for it to stay on every time I stop my string trimmer. The 3yr warranty just ran out. Any ideas on how I can fix it?

So, what happens when you break the logitech usb receiver for whatever the reason ? Sculpt requires you to replace the whole set, what is extremely stupid. But what to do with Logitech K860 when the receiver is gone?

The worst thing about this keyboard is that the included AAA batteries outlasted the paint on some of the keycaps. Otherwise, I love this thing.

Das Pad lässt sich zum Reinigen übrigens ganz einfach entfernen. Dazu einfach auf der Unterseite der Tastatur die Schrauben lösen und das Pad abklippsen.

The main 'reason' why the USB dongle can't be replaced is - its AES 128bit encrypted communication. Keys are assigned and paired in factory so no-one has access to it. I was using MS Sculpt desktop set since it was introduced, which was about 10 years ago. Mine Sculpt ergonomic set arrived in a big nice white box, all was separated next to each other, not layered as yours set. And the USB dongle is quite big = its black part is as big as the silver part which is plugged inside. But here I first heard about missing/dropped letter issue which is a very new thing to me. Is it because of the bigger dongle? Also my dongle has storage space in sculpt mouse, not in the keyboard.

After a week with borrowed gaming keyboard and testing K860 in shop - I can tell that best replacement for an 8 year old MS Sculpt keyboard is...a new set of MS Sculpt. I found an seller with unopened box for about $60 and I'm writing the response here on it. The responsivity of new keyboard is precise, all keys are on the right position. My table isn't that big so I am happy I can use the side numeric block when I need it. Btw, have you noticed if you press the 'Calculator' button on Sculpt numpad - second press will minimize current calculator window and third press will recall the same calculator again? Compared to my Dell keyboard in office - multiple pressing of 'Calculator' button is giving me multiple instances, which is not that cool.

TLDR; Keycap kettering wears off fast under heavy use -- do not buy if you need labels on your keys. I've been coding all day for years. I have been through so many keyboards it isn't funny, trying to find the right ergonomics and feel to keep my hands and wrists fresh and my fingers light, quick and accurate. I love the feel of this keyboard, but the keycap letters faded to uselessness in about a month of serious use... a real drag for such a pricy keyboard. I'm -mostly- a touch typer, but the odd time I need to hunt for a key, the keycaps issue is a deal-breaker for me. Next up, I'm going to try out a Keychron q13 pro, alice layout. Hope this helps.

I've been working on the MS Sculpt for 7 years in the office and it never let me down. I had to replace it once but that was kinda my own fault because I used a slime to clean it but the slime was so stringy it caught on everything and went under the keys. When I tried to lift the keys out to get the slime out, I broke one key and it couldn't be inserted again. I tried other keyboards (ergonomic and standard) but went back to the MS Sculpt. I would love to try other keyboards and the Logitech seems really cool but I hate that the numpad is attached which makes the keyboard bigger and the mouse quite far away. With the MS Sculpt, the numpad always lies beneath the keyboard between my forearms and the mouse is really close. It'd be great if more companies came with keypads with separate numpads. I'm looking for a keyboard for my home office (doesn't need to be ergonomic) but standard keyboards don't lift up in the front, which I find is a necessity. Currently I keep the keyboard my company gave me rested on a gel handwrist rest so that it tilts in the right direction and the front is higher than the back. It works for me but I also miss the option of a separate numpad. Maybe I'll look for a small keyboard without numpad and buy a separate numpad... Or I take my MS Sculpt home and back to office - or buy one just for home office. I don't know yet what I'm gonna do.

I love Makita. I have like half dozen 18v tools and they all do a great job and last many years. All their products feel quality. The only complaint I have is some of them are really heavy like the bush trimmer, to where your arms hurt after using it for 20 minutes.

I bought the sculpt recently and I noticed some strange behavior. I am fairly fast typer. If I type 1234 quickly often times I get 12324. If I type 123 quickly I get 1232. So I thought its the connectivity issue many reported. I checked the batteries and they were new(1.6v). Kept testing and found other problematic combinations. Like typing 'xcvb' resulting in 'xcvbv'. So what is going on? Well, I used the Microsoft's own anti-ghost test page to find out. Turns out this keyboard is only 2KRO!. I have 10$ keyboards that are mostly 4KRO! I guess they had to reduce the wires because of the cutout. I type 'XSI' quickly and I get XsI. The keyboard can not detect all Shift 'x' 's' together if I hold more than one key pressed. so the S becomes s. When I type fast often several keys might be held pressed at the same time and this is where the problem appears. The keyboard can not detect all the 1 2 and 3 keys together so when I quickly press 1 and 2 and then press 3, 3 is not registered until my finger gets off '1' but at this point both 2 and 3 get registered and even thought I never lifted my finger off the '2' sometimes it gets detected as pressed after 3, so I get 1232! Its semi random. AND SO ANNOYING. On top of that, Power management is so aggressive, it kicks in after 15 seconds so almost every time I start typing first letter is lost. Oh I love the design so much but no, I had to send it back. Bye bye Sculpt, our love was not ment to be!

It was a tough decision picking between the two but ultimately I had to go with the Microsoft Sculpt keyboard for a very specific reason. I am suffering from "mouse shoulder" where not having the numerical keypad makes a world of a difference. If wish there was a version of the logitech keyboard that doesn't have the num pad, which allows the mouse to be about 6 inches closer to the keyboard and thus minimizes shoulder movement. So far I have no complaints with the sculpt. I run linux os on my machine and so far I have not seen any connectivity issues. So, so far, I am pretty pleased with it. Fingers crossed.

I've had my Scult keyboard for 5 years. I still like it, but the F-Key row should have been made out of the same keys as the rest of the keyboard. The function key switch is dumb. Why is it not a key? The space between the left and right key blocks could have been smaller to make the footprint smaller. The less my hand has to travel between a mouse and the keyboard, the better. I love the fact I can move the numpad wherever I want. The sculpt mouse is utter crap. I'm glad I've never lost the dongle, though.

I have been using this keyboard for about less than 10 days now and though it felt strange initially it feels much better now. One thing I didn't like is the wrong assignment of Mac and Windows keys on the left bottom row. I use both a Mac and windows with this and normally you expect Windows\Cmd keys and Alt\Opt keys to be paired, it is like that whatever keyboard I use for Mac\Windows. Here they paired the Opt\Windows and Cmd\Alt. There are some keys that I don't know what for yet and didn't check over the internet at all (and I have been using various keyboards for over 30 years). For example there is a key with a battery icon that doesn't do anything. Probably it should be set in Logitech Options+ but I didn't bother. I already had a unifying receiver for my logitech mouse and this one worked right away connecting to it (nice to have a spare unifying receiver). BTW, if you haven't tried yet, I would strongly suggest using Logitech MX Ergo Trackball as the mouse. Once you use it, you would never want to go back to a regular mouse. (I have been using Microsoft Trackball Explorer for years, as I remember in the first days, or even the first week I was about to give up and return to a plain mouse. Then I got used to it and since then I am using Trackball over regular mouse (or Apple trackpad on Mac - that is a different class of beauty). But I am not a gamer, just a developer.

I've been using a sculpt for 8 years. The skipped keystrokes are a problem and its related to downward pressure on the keys. If you press them to lightly, they won't register. I'm wondering if the Logitech suffers from the same thing but to a lesser degree? The reason I ask is my Sculpts battery bay is in rough shape, a battery leaked and damaged the + input tip and I need to get another keyboard. I'm shopping options. Thanks for any feedback, this keyboard worked great until about the time the battery problem cropped up.
