I have finished today the DLC, I have climb the mountain, beat the boss. I have officially 100% my first world of Rusted Moss. And it's only the start. I plan on beating the game with Maya and mybe in hardmode ? For the moment I want to get all achievements so I'm going to speedrun the game. The community you have made is super nice. I keep talking on discord, I have even talk a little with a dev. Each time I have a question someone answered me and it's really nice. Super community Super game, I love it, it's my favorite metroidvania 10/10 Thanks for this great game, I hope your game will get more visibility ! (sorry for my english)

The parry feels so damn incredible to use, nothing quite like just constantly bouncing on enemy attacks

Is it recommended to go through the new areas as Fern first, or would I be fine as Maya? (in terms of them having lore/dialogue)

The DLC areas are a lot of fun and aesthetically pretty. It is a shame they couldn't be repurposed for main story progression but I've been having a blast tackling the climb.

not going to watch the whole thing because spoilers, but a randomizer is such a good idea! one of my only complaints with the original release was that there wasnt a way to start the game with a certain weapon/relic configuration (maybe there was and i just missed it?) but i would really like to do like, a shotgun or rocket launcher only run of the game since i got those relatively late. thank you for updating your game!!

I specifically search for this game every couple of months just to see if a console announcement has been made so it feels right to offer a sincere thank you for porting this game to consoles. My laptop stopped working some time ago and I never got to finish this. I hope it helps it get the attention it deserves. It’s without a doubt one of the best in the genre.

I left the game like in the half because the platforming start to be more annoying that hard, With this am sure I am going to finish the game and change my steam review. If you did this fine, not only fix some problems, but make the game better, keep it up.

On the topic of the speed running achievements, I think it's inevitable to get someone who doesn't like something or believe something doesn't fit in. "I don't believe games should have speedrunning achievements", okay, we remove speedrunning achievements "I don't like games that have infinite ammo you should add ammo packs to your game", okay, we remove infinite ammo "Games shouldn't have difficult areas, because I want to 100% the game", okay, we remove all difficult areas We could keep going and remove double jumps, do that, add y, etc, but I think you get the point While I don't think it's worth outright ignoring those opinions, it's something you should accept you'll inevitably get and decide for yourself what's best for the game overall. There's always going to be one guy upset when you add a new feature, but is that feature making more people happy overall, or is it just that one guy with a complaint that only really affects him? If it comes down it a bug or an accessibility issue (ie, no controller support) then it's probably worth fixing, but once it enters the design court, It's probably(?) best take it with a grain of salt For the speedrunning achievements, I think this is another good example, I've seen a ton of people become interested in speed running because a game had speedrunning achievements; first they get good enough for the achievement, then they try to get their time lower, then even lower, before they submit a run to speedrun.com and compete with other interested gamers on the leaderboard. If someone was already interested in speedrunning the game, being told about a skip early wouldn't be enough alone to dissuade them; if they're so interested that they want to take the time beat your game as fast as they can, then something like a skip spoiler wouldn't be enough to stop them. On the other hand you get people interested in speedrunning because they were tempted to do so by an achievement, then you have someone, maybe multiple people get really into playing your game, maybe showing it off to others and being more involved with it in general. Maybe one day they'll talk to their great grandkids about how they got involved into speedrunning all because of a2D platformer with a physics based grappling hook and shotgun jumps. Overall, I think a perfect achievement is one that encourages you to do something you haven't tried before, beating the entire game without dying or taking damage? Well you've already played through the entire game, so that'd just be boring; you'd just be playing the same game again while trying to not get hit. On the other hand, an achievement like speedrunning a level encourages you to explore movement tech you've learned from later stages and try applying to to earlier ones, maybe you could be encouraged to find a skip, find a new way to run past enemies, anything to move as fast as possible and get a good time! Maybe there could be an achievement for reaching a certain biome, where is this biome? What's inside of it? What's it about? The only way to find out is putting your adventure cap on and searching (the wiki for 10 minutes) Maybe you could try to win with only your melee weapon, never got into melee combat before? Now's the perfect excuse to try it! I think achievements act as a great encouragement tool to make dedicated players try things they haven't thought of before and give them some guidance on what to try next after "beating" the game. Meant to comment this earlier but seems I forgot to press send, oops :p

Thanks for the detailed comment! Yeah I think we ended up accepting that we can't make everybody happy. I think we also like to make indie games because we are able to more freely follow our own vision for the game. So you're right that we keep in mind what we were going for as we read player feedback. If we took everybody's feedback into account, the game might just end up not being the kind of game we wanted to make even if we found another audience that liked the result. It might sound selfish but even if a feature made more people happy overall, it doesn't mean it will get implemented. Partly because we are a small team and can't do everything. Partly because there's also our vision and motivation for making Rusted Moss to keep in mind. I think that's why it is important for an indie dev to keep in mind why they are making a game in the first place. I don't think taking most players' feedback is a bad thing. I don't think NOT taking most players' feedback is a bad thing. It all boils down to why that particular indie dev is making a game. Did they have a niche idea that they haven't seen done before and wanted a game like that out there? Do they want to make a career out of indie game development? Different goals on what they would want to achieve would have different reactions to player feedback and the game design. It is also good to keep in mind what kind of players you intended to attract to your game. If you opened a vegetarian restaurant, you can probably ignore people complaining there aren't meat dishes on the menu. You probably don't want to ignore customers that say your veggies are overcooked. Unless you specialise in overcooked vegetables and did that on purpose :D I mean even if a game only had 2% of players really love it and the remaining 98% loathed it, it is still a game worth making. I agree with you on what makes cool achievements. It is why we didn't make one that said beat the entire game without dying or taking damage. And yeah for the speedrunning achievement we have players saying they liked it as it encouraged them to find skips and changed their view on our level design. Others didn't like it as they felt it gave away too much. But as you said, don't think it completely dissuaded them for doign a run. I'm happy when I see some players try for speedrunning when they wouldn't normally and get surprised when some of the achievements seem deceptively difficult but are not so bad because they discover a skip. I like that sense of discovery. I don't think we'll be able to come to a solution for achievements that make everybody happy. Especially when some players views on achievements are so polarising with one playerbase finding it important for them to 100% achievements and others more into it for the challenge of the achievements. Just something to have to come to terms with, as you said, it is inevitable (:
