I live in Menlo Park, California, and I got this story from a guy who used to frequent Peet's coffee shop before I moved here. Mr. Peet used to run his coffee shop in Menlo Park. One of his customers was Sargent Dickason who, when he bought coffee beans, had Mr. Peet blend two or three types together. Mr. Peet liked the flavor of Dickason's blend, so he started selling it to other customers. When he named it, he boosted Dickason's rank to Major.

Only Pete's was strong enough for that cup. This trophy cup must be passed down through the family tree. I enjoyed every drop of this...

I'm only here because the thumbnail showed a bag of Peet's Coffee, and I happened to buy one just like that yesterday.

Probably the best smelling lathe project of _all_ time I would think. Nope.. can't think of anything that would produce a smell more satisfying from a material being turned on a lathe. Brilliant! ☕☕Cheers!

That particular brand of coffee is quite good, at least it used to be when I worked there 15 years ago.

looks amazing, shouldn't you seal the inner with food gradeable epoxy though? The wall of the cup also seemed a bit think to drink out of by maybe thats preference

You make the final part, the exposition, very quick. Why?
@rytramprophet8436 ай бұрын
I think this was a neat idea. and i suppose i can understand the color choice for the Resin, but i personally would have gone more clear. Additionally, you do not want to make a permanent seal. those things need to be removed for cleaning as they will collect bacterial and grow mold.

Don't drink out of epoxy... you're poisoning yourself. Glass is and always will be the best food safe resource.

That project was "a miss", IMO. The air pockets in the coffee beans, the odd buldge in the middle of the cup, and the white epoxy just made it look too odd. My recommendation on a design side would be to "float" the coffee beans within a clear or darker transparent epoxy. This would require two epoxy settings; 1) whole coffee beans floating in the void of a cup within a cup, 2) putting that set into a larger cup and filling it completely with epoxy. That way, you can grind away the epoxy without damaging the beans. It'll give the illusion of coffee beans floating in your cofee. NOTE: You could make the first set a lighter coffee color and the final set a clear color. So even when the cup is empty, it still looks like there's coffee in there.

Man, everyone talking about "should have cast it clear!" (Personally, the white still looks really cool) when it looks like the lid is going to spill liquid all over you lol Ideally you'd have some sort of lip on the lid where you can put your bottom lip under the hole so you're able to catch all that liquid. Not sure how to wood turn a lid like that, but *shrug* At leat you'd be able to retry just the lid an not have to redo the whole thing ^^"

15 min video for a 10 second money shot! Take the top back off, fill it with something, put the lid back on and insert a straw. All that dang foreplay and if you blink you miss the finished product!
