Am I missing something? Why is the 8lb max drag tag being applied to the brake control? Isn't the drag controlled by the star drag? The 8-point wheel's for controlling the casting braking, not the drag and represents 8 stages of tension in the cast. That's not the same as the reel's drag, is it?

Brilliant Steve! None of that Albright knot jiggery-pokery, or nail knot nonsense..... Best video on this subject I have ever watched - my definite go-to video for fly line to backing - who knew this could be SO simple...? Thanks! @MarkTwrites

Must have been seeing things, I saw two! The main aim for the video was to show the tactics that can be used and how to use them, during the summer months when Trout fishing can be tough.
@MPete18966 ай бұрын
Interesting. Looks to me though that the tag end (fly line) is pointing in the wrong direction. This will result in that knot hitting the guides on the fly rod and not smoothly passing through as suggested. The tag can't double over when it's facing the wrong direction. I am not convinced that this knot is superior to an Albright knot, the best most proven knot for backing to fly line.
@robertherman11466 күн бұрын
The Albright knot is long obsolete and doesn't hold with HC Spectra for backing and is too bulky when passing through 1/0 snakes. The 6 turn uni knot works way better. Even better are those little nylon Leader Links.

Hi Matt, enjoyed your video, were you using the 10 ft or 12 ft rods and is there any difference between the two apart from length ?
@Wychwoodfishingtv6 ай бұрын
Matt was using the 12ft versions, other than the length the rods are identical. The important thing in this scenario is the softness in the tip of the rod to cushion any lunges at netting range but with enough power to get the fish away from any weed beds.
