@Roberta-mb2vj We're so thankful for this storm. It was a great way to put the garden to sleep before the ground freezes, so much water is soaking in!

@tangenttrails we thought, yeah, put out a few birdbaths and feeders, and we can watch a few birds come and go. It's turned into Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds 🤣

@garagebrewer Twin Lakes has always been a good stop for us, either while on the Colorado Trail, or just a dispersed campsite. The mountains in the backdrop never disappoint!

This was an overdue trip for us! We had such a great time and we're hopeful for some fall colors!

We weren't sure if we'd see any colors after leaving so late in the season, but wow, we found some. McClure Pass was the biggest surprise.

@@tangenttrails He had a great first outing and learned some invaluable lessons. The moose was an unexpected bonus, sorta... he wanted to see them, just not that close and on the trail!

@johnthompson8748 This "high route" is definitely the lesser traveled option to Diamond Lake. Most people start at the 4th of July Trailhead, granted they're missing out on some incredible scenery! Heading up and over Deboxer Mountain is tough but very rewarding. From the Hessie TH, this is just over 6 miles, 12ish round-trip.

The moose were definitely out and about on this one! We had terrible rest the night before the hike, and we started off behind the 8 ball but managed to salvage a great outing.

@@Roberta-mb2vj We had a wonderful time, even if it didn't go completely as planned, which was probably the best part, just enjoying being in the moment. The traffic song is a hit 🤣

@garagebrewer thank you! It was just one of those trips, quiet, tranquil, and relaxing. Though, there was one word in the blooper at the end... you just don't get to hear it 🤣🤣🤣

@megf1631 coming from the Denver area, it was a great break from the heat! The overnight was nice and cool, probably 50, not really sure, but it wasn't cold. Put on a jacket at some point during the night, but didn't have the sleeping bag zipped up at all.

@@MADHippiesLife We didn't zip our bags on our San Juan trip a few weeks ago either. Sounds perfect right now!

@andrewconnelly4893 The shelf was probably a mile, give or take... it was getting dark. You'll know you're there when you reach a steep incline and see the shelf above on your right. There is softer camping in the trees, the view won, though. The mosquitoes were aggressive all the way to Shelf Lake! There is plenty of water flowing on trail, too. Granted, the trail is only 7 miles round trip, it was nice to get up early with one of the climbs done already. It's a great trail to take slow and enjoy its many attributes. A diamond in the rough. Speaking of, the road in is rough, but doable in a Subaru.

@jmash41 We use the Ursack, on the CT, or any other trip we take. Unless otherwise required, i.e., a Canister, it is our go-to. You will find that this is one of those purely personal choices when it comes to gear and what people like.

@@MADHippiesLife Thank you. I'm not from the area and am coming to section hike the CT on Friday. I have watched tons of your videos. It looks like there are adequate trees, except above treeline of course. Do you see others hanging bear bags successful? Thanks again!

It's a work in progress! The shade cloth is a learning curve, but definitely worth it...and cool!

Thank you! It's definitely been a project after last year's hail storm. There are plenty of learning curves, but the payoff has been nice.

@@MADHippiesLife i’m sure everything is delicious. We’ve put small gardens in, but we have a lot of raccoons on the farm and they’re always getting into it. One year they dug my pepper plants up and drug them halfway across the yard. They are such little stinkers. Thanks for the garden video. Hope you guys have a great evening.

@bluebird443 Thank you, we're honestly trying. Never been down this road before, so a new chapter for us. We've already tried a salt and pepper cucumber, pear tomatoes, and banana peppers! The flavor is amazing 😁

@DoorSlammersPlus You will want to go past Bruno Gulch Rd. Head thru the Duck Creek Picnic Area, towards the Shelf Lake Trailhead along RD 119 / 1038. This is a rough dirt road that deteriorates the further you go towards Shelf Creek TH and the Iron Fens. Camping is all along this road, and each of the free dispersed campsites is clearly marked. Geneva Creek runs fairly close to the road. Enjoy, great area!

@rosiealvarado764 We did not head over to Breckenridge Peak on this hike. We were out on a good pack shake down just prior to our Colorado Trail thru hike. Flora and Mines are great high country hikes, assumably Breckenridge is too!
