Back caulking didn't eliminate the smear of osi that you used a filthy thumb to wipe into a bigger mess 🤦owner doesn't care about a brake buddy brickmold with soot snears on their new white trim
@lendavidhart97106 ай бұрын
@user-ge2fb9fh2q user, I'm sure the soot is still there, encapsulated in OHIO SEALANT INC. qaud caulk still, being a top performer (not yellowing or cracking) nor has it leaked a drop, covering up that old lead paint on the exterior trim. Each window is done with pride and care, and is still there. I'm sure the owner didn't mind.

My dad just gifted me a 93 windy special 8’6 because it was scratching pieces. I’ve been trying to research what could be causing it because I didn’t really see the scratches he was referring to but I do see my vinyl stripe is worn and cracks etc. thinking that may be what’s causing the scratches.
@lendavidhart97108 ай бұрын
Hi Shane, I just saw your comment, you can get new plastic strip, they are not too much money, I don't know if TAPCO is out of business or not, but I'm pretty sure there is an aftermarket one available, that should solve your problem... thanks for watching!

Thank you for this video, may I ask you how much the window is protruding outside from the surface of the OSB? Also, what is the purpose of these flanges, when you could install a simple siding J-channel around the window?
@lendavidhart971010 ай бұрын
Hi One, the amount of window protruding from the OSB, is whatever a stock Andersen window has, I think that was a 400 series. On the other question, the owner wanted a farm house look with 4" trim exterior casing. Thanks, len

Paul the new holes you drill, must be horizontally in line with the factory holes, and before it is on the wall, if you hit the shingle underneath with the nail, it will crack, I hope this helps...

Did this window not have top tension chains?

No judging Len's editing OR YOU WILL MISS SOME GREAT POINTERS from an experienced Craftsman! Making marks on both sides with a perpendicular sighting line, avoiding bad shadows that obscuring the marks and adjusting the grip on the material were all new to me. I may never become a pro but I can think and work more like one now! ~ Saving a lot of time and frustration! 😅 Thank you for taking time away from your work and family to teach me and others. This is exactly how I used to do those panels on roofs. Those darn things are ridiculously difficult to get started. All it takes is a little dimple and you’re good to go. However, put the dimple in the wrong spot and you’ve put the fastener in the wrong spot. This is a good tip and people that are using sheet metal should try to use your method here. Great work have a good day.

Thank you Zack, some pole barn builders predrill the panels like 6 at a time, but this was a set of double doors I was putting up, I didn't want any slack in the screw hole, because those panel were the only thing to keep the 2x4 door leaf frames square... thanks for stopping by, Len

@josesoares2845 Жыл бұрын
Do you bend a hem on that?
@lendavidhart9710 Жыл бұрын
Josesoares, no there are no hems on the "legs" of that trim, only flanges without a hem, on the bottom or top, that piece measured ⅞"X 2½" X 3⅝" X 1" in my opinion I don't need a hem on the top, and I could scribe some metal off the top leg, if it bottomed out on the roof edging, on the underside of it, I ALWAYS make a 1 foot piece from scrap 1st, so mess up on a scrap, rather than a 10 footer. I hope this helps, Len
