I was introduced to Sarah Gilbert just last week at the Greenville, SC performance of Grieg at the Peace Center. I will admit that upon first listen at the performance, I was not a fan. Perhaps it was my anticipation of the Grieg piece. However upon re-listening on KZbin, and listening to a few of her other compositions, I have become a fan. I look forward to learning more about Mrs. Gilbert, may she RIP.

I'm sorry I can't express a positive comment for this Mozart played by Lang Lang. I'm sorry above all because of the veneration I have for him, who I consider one of my favorite pianists, if not perhaps my favorite pianist. However, Mozart often doesn't seem to be in his stride, and in fact he doesn't perform it much. I apologize but I don't think Lang Lang understood the essence of Mozart, at least in this performance. He should try to stay a little more behind the scenes when Mozart plays, concentrate on the essentials, trying if possible not to change the original score which is perfect as it came from Mozart's mind. To be for once the servant of perfect music, rather than using it. Do not look at all costs for a "Lang Lang way" to play Mozart, but humbly place yourself at Mozart's service to bring out Mozart. Less agogic, less search for hieratic gestures. More transcendence from things, more introspection and more listening, humble listening to what Mozart wanted to say...

I played trombone in high school back in the early 70's. We all played the straight tenor (except the guy who had a valve trombone). I had never seen a base trombone or a "symphonic tenor". Very interesting.

Superb. My only gripe: the clip is too short. I wish it lasted 15 or 20 minutes.

I remember meeting him at the ASO the night when the piano concerto interpretation of Brahms’ violin concerto premiered. Really cool, memorable night.

I SAW IT TODAY WITH MY SCHOOL AS A FIELD TRIP, AND IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!! TBH, some tears escaped from my eyes because of how beautifully they played, and how lovely it sounded. Today it was crystal Clear that I love music, and music is my passion, and that I want to concentrate my life on that. Thank you so much for making me know that for sure because I’ve always loved music, but it was never clear what I wanted to study. After today, I know that I want a music career. I play the violin, and it is literally my passion. I’ve been singing since I can remember, and I’m learning to play the piano and Soprano Ukulele! That right there is just more proof of my passion for music😂. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CONSIDER GOING ON SUNDAY TO THIS!!! ITS WORTH YOUR TIME! TRUST ME!!!❤❤❤

This performance blew my mind in person- it was my first time at the ASO and it’s made me into a regular visitor. I have been hoping to see this recording because I don’t think the full orchestral version of Losing Earth is available to listen to online? Would love to see the whole performance please!!

No offense to this dude I don’t know what the rules of this band are, but you can play an F on the same position as a B on the straight trombone you don’t need the trigger
@thehybridhimself22

The lower F right below the staff is in 6th position. That's why he said you can use the trigger to play it

I listened this piece at Kennedy Center's Gala concert 2024/25 last weekend. I really liked it so I found this video. Even though it is only 'Ring Shout', the first part, I am happy to listen this song again. Thank you!

His F attachment horn appears to be a Conn 88H with an open wrap and Thayer valve, which is supposed to minimize effects of sharp turns in the valve. This horn has the same bore as the current configuration of the Conn 8H, but the tone was a little lighter on that horn when he played Bolero. Did the 8H have a different bore back in the '30's, or is he using a different mouthpiece? I all sounds great!

I had planned to attend the 2024 season opener at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, until I saw this piece on on the list to be performed. I am not a fan of this piece, but more importantly, I will NOT support any ebony nugget composer who writes music that specifically introjects race into music. I am so fracking tired of hearing about black this and white that!!! Why couldn't he have called this composition "4 American Dances"? Why do seemingly all ebony nuggets nowadays ALWAYS have to introspect race into ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING????? I have listened to black composers many times, such as Scott Joplin. Sir Joplin NEVER wrote anything called "The BLACK Entertainer"; rather, he just called his work "The Entertainer". I will NOT support these racist ebony nuggets, who promote race and racial disparities in EVERYTHING they do.
