OmG. Best video find of the night! I just bought a full all-goose duvet for my young boy. I am excited to give it to him (his very first duvet - yippee!) But... 1. Do you know of any child-friendly duvet covers (that perhaps offer extra protection from accidents or spills)? I prefer a natural cotton kind of fabric. 2. I bought child's duvet on sale online (wish I found you sooner). It came in zipped up plastic bag with evidence of being unpacked before I got it. I am not sure if I feel comfortable putting it on my child's bed before I can ensure it's clean. I don't know what it could have come in contact with prior to it arriving at my house.. Do you have any advice on quick easy first-time safety cleans? I don't want to wash it if i don't have to. You mentioned UV rays/lights? Thanks - great information

Suggestions, add a dry towel to the drier to absorb excess water and take off lots of time. I have a sham Wow and towels that I constantly throw into the drier with wet clothes and it’s so helpful. I also use those wool balls to agitate and assist with keeping items from clumping up-as well as the absorbing power of them.

This is excellent advice, but all I'm hearing here is that I absolutely do NOT have the equipment needed to wash my duvet without destroying it. 🥲 Maybe I'll have a nice front-load washer someday, but definitely not in the place I'm renting. Thankfully I only need it done once every couple years, but still!

I threw my duvet in the bathtub and hand washed it which was fun. The drying process was not fun. It took me around 4 or 5 days to dry it out. I first put it in the dryer around 4 times which did nothing. Then I decided to hang it over a clothes rack and hand unclump the feathers and just kept flipping. Eventually it was dry and came out great. I now need to wash it again🙄. May take it to a laundromat

San Francisco 30+ yrs ago during my lunch hour, I stumbled across a bedding boutique. Down pillows. $200.00 each. They'd comp the 6th if I bought 5. My friend said I was mad and put in a padded cell. I said, If it's padded in THESE pillows, I'd go happily. 😂 Fast forward.... I'm still snuggling those same pillows every night. I wash them every six mons, and rotate. They're as wonderful as they were on day one. Worth every penny. Ahhhh...... Good quality pillows are an investment. With care, they will last forever

The title pf the video caught my attention. Then when the woman spoke Damn that accent 😂 seems they know their white feather down duvet inserts. I have a super expensive one that i use year round i just purchase another of a different company/maker. Also have a fewther bed made my martha Stewart. Sounds so ordinary right? You have a martha Stewart white feather down feather bed? Im telling you THIS is THE ONE! Its heavy as hell and fluffs up at least 6 inches and thats an understatement. Best feather bed ive EVER SEEN!! ive returned litterally over 80 feather beds and maybe onto the 40s of duvet inserts untill i found the serta all natural white feather & down comforter. Has tie tabs. Perrct weiggt for year round. Judt hugs me so perfectly. I have the cats and my son in my bed ALL THE TIME!! so i got my son one too 😊 with a brushed microfiber duvet cover. He loves it. I also put 2 claratin brand mattress toppers on his bed. 😂 it might be more comfortable then mine now. Yes Claritin makes fricken bed toppers and there seriously better then the pictures all the other companies claim their are like 🙄 hope you sruck around and read this all and seriosuly check out the products i mentioned to get your bed to that NEXT CLOUD LIKE LEVEL!!!

No flat sheet? I'm all on board for two comforters/duvets but we also have a flat sheet! My only conclusion is that a flat sheet is deleted? Can anyone confirm?If it's not what is done with it?

If my down pillow says dry clean only, should it only be taken to the dry cleaners to be cleaned?
@marlenen6130
@marlenen6130 9 күн бұрын
Lots of times adding “dry clean only” labels to items helps the company avoid complaints from consumers, but it may not necessarily be required if care is taken. Items that should definitely be dry cleaned are lined items like wool or suit jackets or dresses, especially when the lining is not the same fabric as the shell, because if either the lining or the shell shrinks then you’ve ruined it. If you have a down pillow you absolutely love, then dry clean it and ask for new ticking if it’s stained. You can also ask for extra down to be added.

Would it help to throw a couple of tennis balls in the dryer with the duvet.
@stgenevefinelinens
@stgenevefinelinens Жыл бұрын
We always recommend dryer balls over tennis balls, now that dedicated dyer balls are so common. However, mostly for the first two cycles. We have found that after the first or second cycle, the duvet is so puffy that they don't have much of an effect.

How do you get stains off the down pillows
@stgenevefinelinens
@stgenevefinelinens Жыл бұрын
You can soak the pillow in a water/detergent solution overnight and then wash it. If that doesn't work have the pillow recovered. Afterwards, we advise to use a pillow protector under the pillowcase to reduce the formation of discoloration.

A plant-based laundry soap won't leave residue. Tide does. EWG gives Tide a bad score. I recommend watching Patric Richardson aka Laundry Guy. I have done laundry for many decades but I've learned so much from the Laundry Guy.

@lienbijs1205 Жыл бұрын
You don't need to style it, you have to sleep in it. You can try to sleep with your eyes closed with the lights turned off, just as we europeans do. So you can also skip these 20 pillows, how great is that to be rid of these dust catchers?

@stgenevefinelinens

Down has an odor when it is wet. You may need 3-4 cycles in the dryer to get it fully dry. Use dryer balls, feel the pillow for any clumps of down and massage / pull them apart in between cycles. When the pillow is quite wet, higher heat is okay, but as it becomes more and more dry you need to lower the heat to keep the down and fabric from burning.

Just realized that my pillows had very good condition when I put them in washing machine, which was not necessary at all. it's a headache to manage them in uploaded washing machine. They puffed up and floating around, so had to do one pillow at the time, when finished one take it out and put another one in. In the end put two pillow in before spin starts, what a bloody hard job. In the future any unwanted feather pillows will be put into compost bin

How often should I wash the duvet if I use a cover and wash the cover?
@stgenevefinelinens
@stgenevefinelinens Жыл бұрын
For washing a duvet, it needs washing when it is looking yellow, the down isn't puffy anymore or if there is a major accident that can't be spot washed. If the cover is washed often enough it keeps the duvet clean and can avoid the need to wash for years.

If you only have a top loader machine put the pillow in vertical and squash it down several times until it is full of water. Put a towel 《or two) on the opposite side of the pillow to balance the machine when it spins.
