I lived just over the back of the old place, at Busby, in about 1984 - 1985, I was still fit, young and good looking then. I was 20 in 1984, so you can see what I mean. I have 6 beautiful Grandchildren now!! EDIT: - OK, maybe not good looking .... But a big improvement on now!!

Denis Mulheron - Yeah mate I'll back that!! I mean have a go at these "Things". What are they? Are the "Camaro's" or some bloddy thing? There all just the same generic "one size fits all" that we see now in the Sprintcars, Speedcars(Midgets) I'm flat out telling the ordinary road cars apart these days!! Hey, that doesn't mean.... .... that i'm getting "OLD", dose it? Shhhh, don't tell my Wife, she'd have me on the truck to the "knackery" I reckon!!

I believe these tin sheds on wheels killed the popularity of speedway sedan racing people could not identify what brand the cars were.Cars that are street cars provided much better racing
@Holden308
@Holden308 5 жыл бұрын
And now you look at the Late Models and Super Sedans.....they look almost the same except the Supers are all RHD. And none of them look anything like what fans can identify with. And LM and SS racing these days in Australia is struggling to attract crowds and they wonder why.....

jamie greentree - I grew up in Liverpool, and I went as many Saturday Nights as I could, during the late 1970s early 1980s. Until I started to go to Parramatta on Friday Night, AND Liverpool on a Saturday. But Glenfield, I don't know if you've been out that way lately, but you just would NOT recognize the place or Liverpool for that matter now.

The Grand Nationals took longer to take hold here in Adelaide and when they became a regular category in their own right many people "didn't like the things". Strange thing was that those who didn't like them turned up every time they were the headline act regardless and they still enjoyed the racing they produced. I loved watching them as a kid.

No, this is the "Return to real Speeway" era, when they were desperate enough to try and take Paramatta on at there own game, by ripping up the ashphalt, and going "clay" Remember, Liverpool started as a Dirt Speedway in the late 1960s, when to ashphalt in the early 70s, and retuned to a non-ashphalt surface you see here as attendance numbers feel at Liverpool, only to rise at Paramatta

You're right, it's Tar. Liverpool Speedway started as a dirt/clay track, but changed in the early/middle 1970s to Tar, a few years after this was filmed, it returns to being a clay track till it's demise in 1990.
