When I was a manager for the last shop, I convinced corporate to allow 2,500 per person per year for any MFG. or Engineering training of their choice. I mentioned it in a meeting, in a shop with 26 people... guess how many came up to me to take on that deal? 1... 1 person. And he asked me for details, said he was going to do it but then never came back to decide what to do. If I had that opportunity years ago when I was spending my own time and money on training, I would take all the training possible! Oh and on top of that, they could get paid 30 mins a day on the clock to do the training!
@VictorHernandez-nt3tw6 ай бұрын
I agree with Mike. Some need Manual at first but I had a lot of criticism from starting on Hurco CNC Mills and not working on manuals. I'm glad though! Every shop I got to I become lead programmer and lead machinist. The owner in the 1st shop I was at called me the "golden boy" because I was self taught on the CNCs and programming side. I would just run the machines, and do the best I could while operating, and any extra time, instead of being on my phone, I would watch experienced machinist or offer to help them tram up vises or setup their machine. They eventually took me under their wing but it takes motivation and initiation to make it in the MFG, world. You just can't sit back and think you will be a CNC programmer right of the bat without trying. Before KZbin and so much online resources around 2007, I was buying my own training CDs for MasterCAM and other softwares. Learned FeatureCAM myself and did it all at home on my own time. I'm 37 now and don't regret it at all! I love this trade! YNWA!

I don’t think many teachers would have a problem with you giving them a better idea of what skills will actually be useful for their students in the workforce.

Uhhh... Nah. How about teaching kids about skippidty toilet rizz. Thats more important than learning to "manufactur" things. Lastly, no kid wants to work. So teach them how to use A.I. so we can all get robots who become our slaves.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 *🎓 Training in machining* - The evolution of training in machining. - Machinists' roles evolving into specialized areas like postprocessor writing or CAM programming. - Schools lagging behind in curriculum, focusing on outdated techniques like high-speed steel tooling and Bridgeport machines. 01:49 *🔄 Focus on modern skills* - Emphasis on modern skills like JavaScript, postprocessor modification, and digital tooling. - Dismissing the need for traditional skills like feeling a reamer or manual G-code writing. - Critique of high school programs for introducing G-code too late in the curriculum. 03:00 *💡 Affordable training solutions* - Advocacy for affordable training solutions like Tormach machines for schools. - Active internship programs as a valuable training ground. - Suggesting schools could outsource machining programs to well-equipped facilities for practical training. Yeah, I’m like this. I stare and often I almost gaze into their eyes. But then I break it off if I notice the other is too uncomfortable. I can feel when they can handle my eye contact and when they can’t anymore. So, when they can’t, I just don’t look at their eyes or glance at their eyes to acknowledge them that I’m listening then look away again.

It's usually those individuals who are insecure and secretly jealous of us who'd assume we're too intimidating or intense for them, or those who are actually concealing some bad intentions

Video starts at 0:53. Although you can really use these tips for any job. 1. Show up on time - duh! 2. Have good hygiene - for goodness sake, yes! (And yes, I’ve had an interviewer not have good hygiene… a few times..) 3. Dress for success - no suit needed, but be presentable please. Dress your best. 4. Don’t swear - please don’t, it makes you look professional especially if applying to a large company (which normally have good benefits and pay more) 5. Share relevant info - basically no personal stuff. I don’t need to know your cousin fights her mom everyday lol You’re welcome. 💕

An intense stare can be a little off putting to people. In a conversation I find that I have to break eye contact so I don't make others uncomfortable. However, I dont want to come off as a anxious or disinterested. Where's the middle ground here?
@youngoutis71932 жыл бұрын
There's no middle ground if they feel uncomfortable thats their problem your not doing anything wrong
@angelapastorius23772 жыл бұрын
As an intense person myself, I feel like everything has been a catch-22 for me ... just like you say above. I just can't "win". What I'm really trying to do is NOT upset people for no reason. I do not enjoy working through these double-standards - I fail every time. I would much rather have been a wall-flower.
@linkytunes2133 Жыл бұрын
When speaking it’s ok to break eye contact more often. When listening, try to maintain eye-contact 70% of the time. If you don’t wanna look like you’re anxious, when you break eye contact, try to look like you’re thinking about what they said.
