Fareed...you are one of the greats. And I've seen all the greats; Paco, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, Pat Martini, Jim Hall, Alan Holdsworth, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jonathan Kreisberg, Bill Frisell, John Scofield etc... I've seen you in PDX multiple times with various groups; always killing, always new and interesting.

Wow. As soon as you started playing, that tone took me right back to being a kid again listening to Bream's records. I hadn't even read the description yet saying that it was the same luthier that Bream used. Such a classic sound. Deep, yet articulate. A joy to hear it played by a master.

I remember Fareed's last day of high school. I don't know, maybe it was just his last week. I believe it was June 1981. Even then, it was clear he was something special on guitar. He gave an all-school assembly solo concert in the the school auditorium, playing an original composition titled, as I recall, "The Frog."
