I love this! Didn’t know we had street-running trains in Aus. Beautifully shot and I love the bird, train and traffic noise.

How was this the last Aurizon hauled sunlander some Aurizon trains still haul the sunlander after this sunlander
@CalvusTV5 ай бұрын
QR repurchased locomotives from Aurizon and began hauling the Sunlander with its own locomotives and crews, replacing the Aurizon locomotives and crews. Aurizon still hauls the Inlander for QR, but all other QR passenger trains are operated by QR locomotives and crews.

What the silver container for
@CalvusTV Жыл бұрын
The containers are for bulk molasses, at the time it was moving from Inkerman and Kalamia to the Townsville Port. Since then the Inkerman molasses has moved to road.

are the 2600,s the locomotives qr rebuilt to the 2900 class
@CalvusTV Жыл бұрын
The 13 2600s were built as GE U22C models during 1983-1984 and were rebuilt as upgraded C22MMi models during 2000-2001. They were all sold to Apex Industrial in 2013 and exported to South Africa. Those remaining are operating across various southern African countries and in the Congo.
@SebastianC701 Жыл бұрын
Those locos are pretty similar to the EO class used on the midland line between Otira and Arthur's Pass in New Zealand's South Island. However, Kiwirail are planning on buying the Stadler Eurodual and the Siemens Vectron.
@CalvusTV Жыл бұрын
The E40 AG-V1 model was built by Siemens between 2005 and 2014, they weigh up to 132-tonnes with 5,260hp - they're a little more modern and powerful than the Eo 🙂

The original Mary Ann was owned by my Great Great Grandfather, William Pettigrew. I have a copy of the letter William had sent to the Governor to tell him about the Mary Ann and he also sent him a photo. I don't have the photo.

Good video. How do they stop the train? Do the wagons have brakes?
@CalvusTV Жыл бұрын
The wagons (bins) don't have brakes. Locomotives and remote brake vans provide braking. The brake vans are semi-permanently linked by radio to their specific locomotive.

How many trains a day pass through this town? Were these all filmed on one day or several?
@CalvusTV2 жыл бұрын
There's around 16 to 18 trains each day. This video was shot during one morning from dawn until 10.00am. After day break to mid-morning and during mid-afternoon tend to be the busiest daylight periods, with 3 to 4 trains during each of those periods. This is the mainline between Brisbane and Cairns, the busiest intermodal corridor in Queensland.

@CalvusTV2 жыл бұрын
Once Glencore closed its coke works, QR, the network owner, closed the line and the branch was subsequently removed during 2017, including bridges. There is very little evidence now the line even existed.

Did qr have the auizon symbol on their wagons even before auizon was a think
@CalvusTV2 жыл бұрын
Aurizon as a name didn't exist when QR and QR National split. QR National renamed itself Aurizon about a year after the split.
@David2420-n8i22 күн бұрын
Hi Lachlan, I have some information regarding your comment. Sometime during 2010 QR National would rebrand (this wasn't the 2012 Aurizon rebrand) and after this rebranding came the ''Beyond Australia'' logo better known as the Aurizon logo.
