Will Rogers has been my hero since 1963. I learned about Cousin Will Rogers as I was learning our language and culture, from my Cherokee grandfather. Yeah, Will and I are both Cherokees, heck Will even joked about it. He said, "I have Indian blood in me. I have just enough white blood for you to question my honesty." No matter the topic, Will Rogers probably made some humorous but prescient remarks. Will Rogers may have crossed over in Point Barrow, Alaska in August of 1935, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of Cherokees like me and millions of others around this country and likely countless foreign countries as well. He was a good and decent man who cared about others and tried to serve them as well as he was able. Blessings to you all.

I was not aware until yesterday that this is Margo Smith's debut LP under the name Besse Smith. Do you think that you can share the rest of the tracks on this rare LP? :-)

Written and sung by people in Tennessee who have probably never been to Mishawaka and who don't seem to know anything about it. If they did, they wouldn't be continuously mentioning "those Hoosier hills" 😂😂 If we did a bit of searching, I bet we'd find the same song about a number of different Midwestern cities.

There's only one "Hoosier Hill" - south of Dragoon Trail.

The people who sang this song likely never went to Mishawaka to find out what is there. If they did, they wouldn't be mentioning "those Hoosier hills". 😂😂 Northern Indiana is nothing even close to southern Indiana.

2:44 ohh thank you for putting Bob schmertz on your page. My dad worked for him and they were friends. I sent this to my dad who is 85 years old. He was so happy. He found an album and played it on his old turn table. 🙏🏼

I recently read the after the first "Play Guitar With The Ventures" album they used studio musicians as The Ventures found it difficult to play their parts slowly.

Believe it or not, a friend found this album recently in a record collection, an old high school buddy who passed away in Indianapolis. We all went to Warren Central, no clue as to why he collected this album. A career musician (drums) jazz, rock was what he usually played.

From humble beginnings about 90 miles east of Humble, TX, Babe had a tough life towards the end but accomplished many things. I love her 'rmonica playing. She won a major sewing competition at the TX State Fair in Dallas in 1930 or 31. I remember when that TV-movie came out about 50 years ago with real life couple, Susan Clark and former footballer Alex Karras, playing her and hubby Zaharias. The chicken is burning in the oven. Bye

No kidding? I rarely hear a fact about Will Rogers that I was not aware of, but you got me with this one. I'm a fan of both men and the alleged Cousin of Will Rogers. It makes sense that they'd know each other, I've just never heard it before. Sgi which is Cherokee for thank you.

What are the odds that I just find out about the Purdue Groove and you uploaded this just a week or so ago. It's absolutely perfect. Just hoping to find the 1961 version now
@Shushmuckle2 жыл бұрын
Same! I've got the Purdue Groove that covers the 1959-60 school year, and I've got the one that covers the 1961-62 school year. It stands to reason that there must have been one in between, for 1960-61, but I've yet to find it!

so happy to find this. My father was an architect, and I remember this from my childhood in the early 60s. Of course the wit and subtleties were beyond me, so the song I remembered most clearly was "Spring on the Campus."

I have a copy that was pressed in 1960 and the notes say it was a reissue, which makes me think this music was so popular that Pittsburgh record stores could not keep it on the shelves. Even so, the lyrics are printed on the album but misnumbered and some lines are missing. Overall a terrific record that should be required listening in all architecture schools. Thanks for sharing it here.
