Is it really a pay raise when you went outpatient? In Texas, nurses in the hospital typically work 3 days (36 hours), but out patient you work M-F at 40 hours. So is it REALLY a pay raise when you work more & have less time off? Thank you in advance :) I'm an elementary school nurse :)
@KristenWaldorf17 күн бұрын
I can only speak from my experience. I am scheduled to work 4 10s, but only required to work 36 hours at my outpatient job as well and I have Fridays off too. When I first started outpatient, it about the same pay if I worked my full 40, but now I make $6 more dollars an hour than when I was working inpatient and I average about 37-38 hours weekly. I choose not to work my full 40 in order to maintain a healthy work life balance. I make substantially more than what I made before. I stay in contact with a few of my coworkers and they have not had as many raises as I have at my new position. But my old hospital was know for being one of the lowest paying hospitals in the area, so I am not sure how it compares to the other health systems in my area… Oh I love that! How do you like outpatient school nursing? One day I would love to try to be a school nurse.

I feel you fl pay is crap bc there’s sooo much your risking at bedside for so little. Looking for outpatient as well lol
@KristenWaldorf2 ай бұрын
Hi @Ray.0.0 ! Yes you definitely have to make sure you always protect license no matter where you work. I did enjoy the bedside working with the little ones, but there were also many factors as to why I left bedside. I will be sharing this soon. I think you will truly enjoy outpatient! Just know from my prospective it is slower pace, so it can get repetitive and redundant, but I love where I work now and feel as though I have a great work life balance :)

I work 3x12's and night shift and I couldn't imagine working 5x8's or day shifts. Night shifts go fast and having 4 days off is heaven. Even if I take my first day off to clean and sleep, I still have 3 full days to enjoy life. Eat well, drink water, and sleep well make a difference.

I just failed the NCLEX. I cannot begin to articulate the level of embarrassment and heartache I'm feeling. I'm confident that I will be a good nurse. I just need to get past this, move on and persevere
@KristenWaldorf4 ай бұрын
Hi Georgia, I am so sorry to hear about this… Do you mind if I asked how you prepared? I know that the NCLEX changed the year after I took it, but I can try to give you some advice if you would like. I hope that you know passing or failing the NCLEX does not represent how you will be as a nurse. You will be a GREAT nurse 😍 The NCLEX is just a test and most of the training you will get is on the job. I have worked with nurses who have had to take the NCLEX multiple times before passing and they are incredible nurses.

I work home care shift so thats 33-35 an hour if you’re at a nursing home RN pay you should get between 38-42 based on experience but normally those are full time with benefits if you take PRN position in stead you can see 45-48, psych hospital as a RN you will see 43 and up. I never worked hospital cant do them 12hr shifts so for my 10 years I’ve been in home care, LTC and some psych I’m considering retuning to LTC after 6 years of not doing it but theres is a lot of openings and I think a PRN shift would be good to help me get the rust out

I know it’s 2024. We had no instruction. We were in groups in all lectures. And if you have a question, instructor will always say. See what your classmates think, then come to her. Not good at all. So almost reading the book and questions, was all we could, no lead way on what’s on exams. Thank you for this information.

Feeling so defeated:(i studied hard all week, stayed up until 4 am. Woke up at 7 and worked until 4. Created a practice test with. Did it. Checked my answers. Went back and analyzed what i did wrong. All for Nclex :(i think that i was just so tired by the end of it all that i just wanted to be done. I'm hopeful that i can bounce back but right now I just feel like crying 😢 😭💔💔🤕😓😔💔💔😓

Is there any speciality for gynaecology
@KristenWaldorf7 ай бұрын
My hospital has a unit that specializes in gynecological surgeries. I am also certain that there are OB practices that you could work in, that would specialize in both OB and GYN. I hope this helps answer your question!
