1 fault with major was the high geared Pto (probably helped with fuel economy they are known for) meaning the 4cyl lacked power where you couldn't rev it past 540 , 6cyl you have sorts that problem

despite my earlier comment, this is true, bearing in mind that pre super major they all belonged to an age that PTO power required was mostly low

We had the same baler but painted orange and badged "Allis Chalmers 300". A good old baler, well made but The Claas Maximum we had at the same time would run rings around it.

Not too many rpm otherwise the tractor will throw that little baler across to the corner of the field! The blue Jones baler was a very well made bit of kit,we had them in Wales because they were made in Wrexham and it made us feel patriotic, but they were a good baler for the smaller farmer. I have owned a roadless 4wd which I had converted with a Trader 6 but with a purpose made axel carrier, new pressed bonnet and extended propshaft. It was a great tug but had no live drive, Oh yeah I confess I loved the sound of the 6 on the road, and the great looks you got,but my DB 1394 could do a lot more being a much more modern machine so I ler the ford go to some chaps in the timber down in Llandovery. The very skilled talented and compedent agricultural engineer D Price and son of Oakle Street nr Gloucester build up my Roadless 6 in 1987 and I sold her in 1989,;often wonder did/has she been preserved?

never seen a p6 perkins, done a conversion once by changing MF185 with 4cylinder to 6cylinder, think it was a 6354 perkins from an old Masseyferguson 1200. P6 perkins must around early 60's, i know the 6354 engine came in early 70's. was age is the massey?

+tom walker Yes, it is a DB plough with a Ford 2000. The plough was made out of four I acquired in various states of decay then stripped, primed and sprayed a dodgy shade of hunting pink!
