This song is beautiful, it instantly takes me back to senior year of high school and perfectly captures the animosity, regret, (mild) fear, and trepidation of joining the real world, separating from friends (some of whom I cared about WAY more than they cared about me!!), and the UNCERTAINTY of the future!!! I have no idea if thats what the song is about, of course it's fine if it means something COMPLETELY different to you, but thats the message I get from it.

Just a fun fyi - in the 34 years that Ed Roland has been performing this song live, not once has he said the word "yeah". Not once. It is always left for the audience.

Whatever happened to their original bass player ?, he was a key member.

They have only had two bass players. The original bass player was David Neal and was never considered a key member. He only played on the original release of Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid. Will Turpin has been the bass player since 1994 and is the bass player in all the videos, including Shine. The bassist in this video is the same person that sings the second harmony on the December video, just a decade older.

@@ramonarellano4988 Same guy. He still plays with them today. The Roland brothers and him are the only original members. He looks completely different now too.
