Pine tree? These invaders from Mars must be Christians. They killed all the pine trees on their world making bibles and for decorations so their paper deity commanded them to come to Earth. To an author who sells books, this must be a profound horror.😂 The radio towes that broadcast Orson Wells could be seen as spitting fire through the air...so not too far removed from when the book is written, the invation actually happened, in a way. Imagine the Eifel Tower but with three legs. Wells must have strolled throufh Paris with Mademoiselle Mary Jane in hand.😂

Well, that’s certainly an imaginative take! Martian Christians on a mission to Earth, armed with theological deforestation - now that’s a new spin on ‘War of the Worlds.’ And Orson Welles turning radio towers into fiery tripods? Brilliant imagery. As for Wells strolling through Paris with Mademoiselle Mary Jane… I suppose even the best need inspiration, eh? Cheers for the laugh - thoroughly enjoyed this! You should be a writer! And if not.. why not?

Prompted by the passage about the machine having a tree grasped in one of its tentacles. Besides which, we observe that these trees are both male and female. We're transgender, non binary so we think about these things, particularly since a representative called Mace from South Carolina has two giant crucifixes hanging from rings and from their earlobes, seems hell bent on not allowing us to use the toilet as they privatize everything, even pubic. toilets. Meh.

I like this story and of course its just fantasy but it have a huge Unacceptable error.. 1- why when the aliens managed to take the earth didn't eliminate everyone.. 2- After the attack and destruction of two cities, the last city can immediate3- easily destroy everyone on earth quickly.. but they just waiting many day's until a bombs exploded .. 3- when the mothership arrived after so long distance ( over 100y ) and seen the city's are destroyed by human they just dropped one nuclear bomb in each city and turned back.. which It's incredibly stupid, why they can destroy everyone from sky like drinking a glass of water .. than landing and complete the mission.. 4- No one can survive in an environment full of chlorine gas; An anti-gas mask will have no effect, chlorine gas dissolves in body moisture and sweat, and the result is a solution called bleach, which will cause severe skin burns, poisoning, and death.

Thanks very much for taking the time to share your thoughts! You raise some quite intriguing points here, especially about the logic behind the alien tactics - orperhaps, lack thereof! I suppose part of the allure of the story is precisely in its sense of mystery and the notion that the aliens' methods might not always make perfect sense to us mere humans. But I get your frustration; some of their actions do seem a tad inefficient, don't they? Regarding the chlorine gas, you’re absolutely right about its effects - it’s lethal in concentrated amounts and certainly wouldn’t be stopped by a simple gas mask. But, of course, one could argue that survival stories often thrive on the impossible, which gives our heroes a fighting chance. Anyway, muh appreciate your keen eye and enthusiasm. Always great to know the finer points of these tales are being scrutinised by thoughtful listeners like yourself!

Forgive that I have made stumbling progress... truly my absorption mirrors my "creator", if thy might, and a shattered mirror it might show: The image is disarrayed but the countenance is true yet wanting. But lo, this has been amazing, as the even and hallowed gallop untoward (? probably shitty} destiny we have a steed-borne stallion, heaving for the hearth (i stand by this illiteration, piss off, ha}. I say only one of the four of doom's trotters need carry me... heavy though our labor (well all yours), but not so heavy. Am I only a rider? But yet i hold fast and discover I am only cargo and, just yet, beautiful melody are those hooves. Surely not a eulogy all ready, is tuned. I am gladdened and ride (listoen) on. I hope thou art as well blessed as I am by your aural labors. Prometheus smiled at the sounds of your true-fired work... fire crackling is a certain way, the forge cools and the anvil is silent but alas the good doctor has miscarriages that art his own destiny. I am delighted.

To say 2001 took some creative liberties with the source material would be the understatement of a lifetime. LOL Still a really good story, and I kinda wish he'd followed up on it with further stories, showing what sort of beings had left the sentinel.. and whether or not they've come in to guide us or to exterminate us.
