What made (or who) choose such an Arabian scale? It’s quite unique and emotive choice that’s I’ve wondered about for most of my life.

As I composed and played the sax piece of music I can just say that that is what I felt.

When a solo that you have heard for the umpteenth time still gives you goosebumps years later, you realise what the definition of a great musician is.

This is an absolute masterpiece. And I'll be back again in the not too distant to listen to it yet again.

As someone who got hooked by the smooth tones of the saxophone score, I can safely say that at the age of 59 I’m still hooked, I have 3 saxophones and that’s because of you Wesley , I’m not very good at playing them but I still love the uniqueness of there design engineering and the sounds that can be created, you sir will always be the top gun of sax. Thank you for brilliance ❤❤

Yes, I agree, The Wesley's sax and the final solo especially is the best sax piece I ever heard, brings tears and goose bumps BUT, it is first a perfect response to the so emotional Hazel's lyricks

You are so correct. When I composed and recorded the original I was in a wonderful commercial studio "Dean Street Studios in Soho' who multimiked my sax and with a wonderful record and compression so the first note I played was a joy to hear. Tony Visconti the producer was wonderful.

Listen to this over and over again, will never tire of it, the emotion, his charisma and perfect playing.
@chrishill56786 ай бұрын
OK So many of us oldies still think its the best sax solo we have ever heard. I agree with perfection but to be honest , you can hear the emotion in every breath. I may be wrong but I suspect Wesley was miles away, feeling every moment of that performance, the rise and fall of emotion is overwhelming, so much so that I don't mind admitting it still brings a tear to my eye after all these years. Its hard to find 'Exceptional' amongst the bland these days but that performance was truly exceptional and I am glad I lived to hear it. Thanks Wesley!

@@lexicrane Thank you for replying Wesley. I’m mainly a rock guitar fan but I get goosebumps every single time I listen to your playing on this song and especially your solo. People will still be talking about your solo in a hundred years, truly a phenomenal piece of composition and playing.

Jeff Beck was my mentor and always said "Let em ave it".
@96bobbob7 ай бұрын
Wow, amazing that Jeff was your mentor. His track Cause we ended as Lovers gives me the same goosebumps as your sax playing. When you recorded the solo did Hazel or the producer suggest you make it shorter? There can’t be many four minute pop songs with a two minute solo.
@lexicrane7 ай бұрын
@@96bobbob Pretty sure it is 3.33 long. It is a piece of music in it's own right and NOT a solo.
