I have memories of in particular the second song "Mofo Koranti", that are both joyous and painful. The year was 1983, The country was recovering from the december 1982 trauma and it seems like there was a special sence of I don't know what in society. Just a special sense of something, I think had to do with leaving the painful memories behind. This year, 1983, started with the so called suicide of one of the top military leaders, a suicide only a few believed. Since some institutions were restricted it leaves some young people with more free time. And I remember when the schools went out the city was flooded with young people before further heading home. The area Domineestreet, Krasnapolski and Maco Land as well as Alegria, were the places that were crowded with youths. And these songs provided us with a distraction from the trauma's that was brought over us, giving the people an opportunity to forget the sorrows for a moment since we were in the middle of it and with no option to escape. It is also the period that many friends and relatives all of a sudden were gone, hastily left the country any which way they could, because of the declined or destroyed perspectives and their wiped out confidence in the politics. Not all emotions that relate to memories can be put into words, but these are some mempries, the emotions I can not bring to words.
