Make sure y'all leave enough seam allowance when youre cutting out the hole. I goofed up and cut a bit too close and have spots where the stitching has pulled through and exposed the raw edge.

I was up until 4 this morning putting a rolled edge on my undertunic neck, and while I'd rather not have done that, I'm gratified to learn that it's historically appropriate. I just chose it because I didn't know how to get the hem in without making the hole too big or leaving it wrinkled. My outer tunic is gonna be done this way!

Hi, It looks like I have the same loom as you. Mine says "Nilus Leclerc". Do you know where a person can find set by set instructions on how to operate the loom? I've tried looking to see if I could download a manual but had no luck. I was gifted this loom from my brother who purchased it at a garage sale, and I'm totally green but excited to learn how to work it. lol Its obvious I will have to look to see if I can take some sort of course online to better understand it all.

Theres a place called Camilla Valley Farm Weaver's Supply in Ontario that has a bunch of Leclerc loom manuals available for free on their website, including a guide to figure out which you have if you are unsure. Definitely worth checking out!

You just saved my tunics. And I feel so stupid cause I did professional upholstery for 2 years, and I've been fighting this stupid neck for hours. Even more embarrassing is this is almost the same trick I used to make the perfect zipper pocket on cushions.

Trial and error! I tried all kinds of measurements and that was universally the best. I've been doing commissions for a bit now and I've made tunics for some big dudes, and I don't believe I've ever had to make it larger since I started doing it this way.

thank you!! i got this loom as a graduation gift (my family found one on fb marketplace for $25, and my mom is familiar with weaving so she knew what an insane deal that was) but my only experience has been with a single frame warping board type loom that i made myself so all the levers were super intimidating to me, this video gave me a much better idea of how this works :)
@jokeofalltrades6155
@jokeofalltrades6155 3 жыл бұрын
Holy cow, that's an even better deal than I got! I'm so glad this helps, there is a lot of great info out there! If you're looking for learning resources, the best I've found are two books: Warp and Weave by Robert LeClerc (same as the loom!), and the Handweaver's Workbook by Heather G Thorpe. With these two books, you'll understand everything in the weaving process, why it works, and what to do with it in the loom you've got! They even have basic patterns to show you the different types of weave, from tabby to broken twill, and how they all differ. I use that part all the time. :)
