Really helpful tips! Any ideas on how to use the ruling pen with a compass and not make holes in the paper that watercolour will pool into?

I have my latr father's set of ruling pens. They may have been his stepfather's before him. He was an artist as well as an industrial pattern maker. I've only just discovered what these pens are for and I'm still learning. I hate the smell of my masking fluid, though!

It would be nice to understand the colors or shade you are using as you paint. The green background color is used within the glass jar of course. It would be nice to know when it is darkened or lightened. I work in acrylic and found this lesson really helpful.

Thank you for this, it was very helpful. Just a small tip for anyone who already has a ruler and doesn't want to buy a foam backed one. Four layers of wide masking tape on the back of your ruler will lift the edge off the paper and prevent that capillary action.

I wish there had been non-straight lines in the demo with the pen. do you have to keep turning the pen? I assume so but it would have helped. and does it always have to be pulled? Again, I assume so. But all that was shown was straight ines.

looks better then the photo. Though I wonder how this could apply to painting water flowing through space, like when a liquid is being spilled. Well, mainly it is why I found this video XD: I was looking for a short tutorial on how to paint flowing water with watercolor. To no avail, I didn't find any tutorials on that. did you add white guoch on top of light paynes grey, because your picture the house looks whiter , it looks great!

I think that dark at the end is perfect. Made the flowers and the jar pop. I don't love masking fluid. For some reason, it's hard for me to get it off and hard to lay down. I think, for now, ai just won't do Bell or Karr jars!! I love how you calm our nerves by saying it will turn out fine. Plus, it's really about the process, isn't it? Thank you!
