It needs to be boycotted tbh, most businesses are run by the mafia. No idea why you would support the mafia and their businesses. There are a tonne of islands in the world, a tonne in Thailand. Go there instead, make the mafia struggle to support themselves. You can visit when their power over the island has weakened

People go because it’s one of the best backpacker islands in Thailand. Completely agree with you but unfortunately even after 20 odd strange occurring murders people are still going. Not sure what needs to happen to make the change tbh! But we never had any issues. I think you’ll only have issues if you are looking for them or causing trouble!

So I’m thinking about doing a more detailed video on this at somepoint but basically… this was one of my mates cars, so I didn’t buy it, so can’t comment on that unfortunately. Regarding insurance, there are some companies that offer short term car insurance 1 to 7 day insurance which you can buy on the day. And I was able to do this even though I wasn’t a Japanese resident!

Tonsai is nice, but it doesn't have the wow factor of Railay . It's a lot more old fashioned in the accomodation but is a good place to visit if you are staying on Railay.

I completely agree. If I went again, I’d try Railay. But I enjoyed relaxing a bit more on Tonsai when I went and then walking over to Railay! Both are beautiful

Driving a motorbike is risky regardless of experience. Especially in Vietnam. So it is dangerous! Always make sure you are careful :)

Honestly I'm surprised I managed to find a video like this as early as I did at under 300 views. I guess I sometimes dip my toes in the vanlife niche on youtube but I do consume quite a bit of japan culture videos. I imagine I'm not alone in users who overlap in these niches so I suspect this video will likely get picked up by the algorithm for other people like me. Good luck Alex!

That hike actually takes about 2.5 hours and is a major workout. Lots of straight up climbing. I did it a few months ago and I'm 47 years old and in pretty good shape and it wiped me out. There were other people in their early 20's and they were wiped out too. The waves to big that day to get a boat back to the start so we all pitched in like 300 baht each and got a ride back in a 4x4 tuktuk. Was incredible experience.

Thanks for the advice. We didn’t have any problems at all and thought that the island was absolutely beautiful. But it’s definitely worth keeping your wits about you… but I would recommend the same for anywhere in the world, especially while travelling alone!
