Can you help with what you did to fix the belt problem? Did you have to replace the clutches. Do you have part numbers?

My issue is the starter solenoid clicks each time i turn the key that's an issue but the bigger issue is figuring out how to remove the starter solenoid, it's under the starter so i either have to figure out how to remove the lower cowl or another method so i can take it off

This is the setup I am considering. Do you find the wide rear tire track to be too wide for the 44” blower? JD lists the rear track at almost 45” on the 394. I would like AWS but wonder if you maybe have reversing issues in deeper snow due to the wide rear end. Do you think the x390 to be a better snow blowing choice or no?
@supertrucker2077

Thanks for checking out my channel! I specifically wanted the 4-wheel steering for snowblowing. It makes turning around at the end of the driveway a breeze. The front wheels are just a pivot point and the rear tires turn the machine. The x390 is great for lawns but snowblowing is so much easier with 4-wheel steering. I had a x324 before this one and it was awesome as well. I really love the power steering and power lift system of my x394 though.. it is definitely worth the little bit extra money for the 4-wheel steering. I upgraded my chains this year to a diamond pattern with v-bars.. the tractor is really smooth on the hard ice and I never get stuck. That’s another advantage of 4-wheel steering is if you get stuck in a rut, just turn the wheel as you back up and it drives right out of it…

@@supertrucker2077 thank you for that info! My father owned a John Deere 445 AWS (predecessor to the current x734) for many years and I agree that AWS is GREAT for blowing snow! Superior in my opinion to two wheel steering. My concern was the width of the rear of the x394 in relation to the width of the blower. Your excellent videos do not seem to show any drawbacks in that regard.

@supertrucker2077
@supertrucker2077 Жыл бұрын
Yeah these old outboards can sometimes be pretty frustrating.. my only advice would be to try tightening the bolts first, just a little bit, try not to over do it.. the idea is to get them to move.. if that doesn’t work I’m assuming you’ve already used some pb blaster or something similar to try and get some of the corrosion off?? Sometimes bolts are just too stuck and you need to break them off, remove the part and drill/tap the new hole.. believe me I’ve been in your situation before and it’s not fun, but it is fixable so try not to get too frustrated, be patient and don’t be afraid to try getting some help if you need it.. good luck with your engine and thanks for checking out my KZbin channel!!

They’re a great machine and I’m still very happy with my x394 so far. If you are going to use it for snowblowing I would recommend the x394 because it steers so much better with the blower on.. if you’re just doing mowing and yard chores I’d recommend the x390. Hope it helps.

Is your impeller plastic or steel?Also what thickness rubber did you use? Thanks . Very nice setup.
@supertrucker2077

It’s a plastic impeller. Rubber is around 1/4 inches thick or so. We tested it yesterday with a heavy snowfall and very soft ground. The blower worked great, but ingested a few rocks and broke some sheer pins.. otherwise everything is fine.

He used to weld with his work boots on, but one day a large piece of molten metal went and burned through his boot and he couldn’t get his foot out of it until he untied it etc.. he ended up with a pretty severe burn. He welds with crocs on so if metal hits his foot, he can quickly kick off his shoe and dunk it in water.. I know it’s not the osha approved method but it works for him. I see a lot of people welding in flip-flops.. maybe they’re onto something?? Thanks for checking out my channel.

How much of a gap did you have before doing the impeller mod? And what powers the blower? Mid PTO?
@supertrucker2077
@supertrucker2077 Жыл бұрын
There’s about a 1/2” gap in the impeller originally.. it doesn’t sound like much but it makes a big difference. The blower is driven by a belt that runs off the pulley on the bottom of the engine. There’s an electric actuated clutch on the crankshaft that runs the mower and snowblower.. thanks for watching!
