Season 5 is when the series fully cemented itself as this one big story the first 4 seasons are all the sins and transgressions and from 5 on it is when the show becomes perhaps the great morality play that allowed for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul to show you the full consequences of a characters actions to truly be felt by the audience and for us as an audience to be a part of it that by time of the finale we are sicken that we allowed ourselves to make excuses (I remember laying in bed after the penultimate episode of the series and my heart was racing I felt disgusted in myself).

The Shield, Dexter, and The Sopranos were the best of the prestige drama era of 2000 to 2013. The other shows never grabbed me like those shows do

New years eve 2024. Going through some of the legendary classics in my playlists. Here we are. The last last in my genuflect part of the list. Agree with the guy that said criminally underrated but also... I feel like this isn't for everyone and I feel for those that can't enjoy this. (still laughing)

Very well done, putting all this together. I appreciate it, as I never watched the show (I don't watch or even have a teevee) Its only been in the past few months I've watched more recent episodes, with Dennis Franz in the lead, so seeing these older episodes gives a bigger view of how the series grew. It was well done.

This is by far the most realistic cop series in history. Crude and brutal. It graps you from chapter 1 to the last episode of season 7. Great acting, direction and script. To this date NOTHING surpasses The Shield.
