We a;; get ;lucky from time to time. I really envy you that find. WOW!!! I have a few really scarce or unusual cuffs that I found really cheap over the years. Like so many collectable things when someone who has no clue has them they can go precious cheap I love the multi drawer cabinet you have too.

@@jerseyromer9725 thanks! Are your Rankins the same size? I’m not sure if you could tell but they came in different sizes. I’m not sure if I compared them like that in this video or the previous one.

The Cummings is a great design! I have two different variations in my collection. The variations have to do with the thumb pads that are just below the "horns." One has the cross hatched pattern, while the other has a series of straight lines. These are the only two variations that I know about. One slip up in your video. The lever you called a "double lock", isnt technically a double lock. A Double Lock feature would act as a deadbolt and freeze the position of the bow, where ever is at when the lever is activated. The lever on the Cummings is more like a "reset" lever for the locking mechanism. For those who dont know, when you unlock a Cummings with the key, it automatically disables the lock and allows the bows to swing in and out without the lock engaging. The lever on a Cummings resets the lock, so the next time the swing arm enters the lock housing, you will hear the familiar ratcheting sound, which is the pawl clicking against the teeth on the bow and locking the bow into place. Thus securing the prisoner, until the key is again used to disable the locking mechanism. Overall, a great feature for handcuffs way back when!

Congratulations on the purchase and the re-keying for your set of Wood's Chain Cuffs! These are a nice looking set with clear markings! Great set of cuffs. I love the simplicity of the mechanism combined with the "one size fits all" design.

Bummer Arioch! Nothing worse than when your key/lock fails no matter how long you've had your gem. Good luck with cutting the dup…Maybe you’ll get lucky and it was dirt or grime all along.

I enjoyed your channel but I could do without the incesant, annoying drum beat in the background. The only way I could watch it was to turn off the cound and use Closed Captioning to read what you are saying. Please consider doing away with the stupid drums.

The raised rivets on the newest sets of cuffs are done to make the cuffs comply to the current N.I.J. Standards. The raised rivet connections are a more secure connecting option than the previous flush rivet options.

The black cuffs that you had thought may have been a WS Darley, is from Poland. The cuff that immediately follows that one in the video, has a flat key and a single connecting ring is from Hungary.

Great collection. I have a pair of Pratt's (I believe that what they're called. They're the ones with the tag shown close-up at 6:02 in this vid). My uncle was on the LAPD back in the 1950's and he gave them to me. Anyhow mine are locked and I cannot find the key, nor can I figure out what kind of key to use. Any ideas on where to get a key? Do you think a locksmith could open them? Any help would be great. Thanks - - Pokenfun
@ARIOCHILLUSIONS6 ай бұрын
The Pratt take a very simple key. You can even open them with a paperclip. I think in one of my earlier videos I did a close-up of the key.

@@ARIOCHILLUSIONS Thank you. I found and watched the vid you did on the Pratts. So I have one more question: is the shaft of that key hollow or solid? I'm going to try picking the the Pratt open, but would like to fashion a key for them as well. Regards....Poke

Thanks for the video Arioch! The Matts seem more delicate than the Judds. Although, the tube key or lock for the Judds seem to struggle to stay in working-order harmony very long. Stripping of either part is inevitable the more they get unlocked.
@ARIOCHILLUSIONS8 ай бұрын
I think that it all started when I read the John Novak book about how temperamental they are. But I like the Judds because they’re harder to find. Thanks for watching! Maltby coming soon!

The Dollar sign cuffs were mainly used for transporting prisoners. The peg at the on end of the cuff is used to attach the cuffs to a belly chain or lead chain.
