En la base o fondo de el portaequipaje hay algo duro o resistente? O si coloco peso se hundirá y terminará descansando sobre mi techo?

Not really. There is a flexible piece of plastic as a recall (I sold this years ago), but really the main supports are the crossbars of the car. The material doesn't stretch that much, and there is a weight limit.

What does the harness do? Does it bypass the micro switch?
@franklharbin

@cloudstreets1396 not sure about bypass. It worked for a few months, but then quite. I think it might be like an old Dodge fusible link. Still dealing with the issue.

The 5.5mm allen wrench isn't loosening the faucet. Any suggestions?
@franklharbin
@franklharbin Ай бұрын
@susanl4198 I'm assuming you've tried going up and down a couple sizes just to make sure. Try to make sure there is some tension on both the faucet and the nut. It's possible the nut has stripped ,and you'll have to just cut it out.

My attachment rings were under the C clips and no room to get them off. I had to use a razor blade to slash my wrists. 😢 What a job for a guy who's very good with plumbing. I'm sure the next one will be easier

@franklharbin
@franklharbin 6 ай бұрын
There is a "nut" that keeps the faucet tight to the counter that you have to loosen using the Allen. In the video, once I get faucet to come off you can see two "pipes" sticking up. If my memory is correct that nut you are loosening up is the one in the back (closest to the mirror).

Most of mine was so rusted that it broke with just a little pressure from either my hands or pliers that I was able to remove. But also would consider using a punch (tool) as well, just be careful as the pieces will become flying objects.

Wow ! Thank you so much for this video ! Taking this old faucet out was NOT intuitive, at all. I had been fussing with it for over an hour. I had seen some other more recent installation instructions, and saw the allen wrench idea, but had stuck is several wrenches (SAE I guess) I had on hand, and nothing fit. It seemed like that was not the right approach. I went to the store and bought a 5.5mm allen wrench, and VOILA ! it worked instantly, and I was able to disassemble, and get the new one installed from there. Absolutely would not have figured this out without this video. Thanks again !

I cannot, for the life of me, get the spout off. I've got the right size Allen wrench but it WILL NOT BUDGE. I've tried a hammer, wrenches, you name it and nothing. I've got everything else taken apart. Any ideas?
@franklharbin
@franklharbin Жыл бұрын
It's been a minute, but if memory serves, there were two holes where the allen wrench would fit into. Have you tried both? Also, given how old these models are at this point, might have to consider that the bolt has stripped out, and you might have to cut it out.

If they are that rusted, you may have to break out a hammer and punch/chisel. Some mild heat could help too, just be careful not to damage your countertop.

5 years later.... how are they? Did they crack? Explode? Just plain junk? Or a great purchase?
@franklharbin
@franklharbin 2 жыл бұрын
Sold the bike with the bags about three years ago. They never cracked while I had them, but locks were never smooth, and emblems would fall off. The plastic is fairly thin. If you leave your bike outside I'd have to guess that they would crack over time (based on other things I've owned made out of similar thin plastic). My bike now is an 03 Harley FXDL, and when I bought bags for it, I did NOT buy these again.

I have seen a lot of badly designed faucets but this one tops them all. Even with your instruction I could not get it uninstalled. I had to use a grinder to cut everything off even the drain. It took me literally 10 minutes to install the new one in. What were they thinking in the old days?

You saved me a lot of time figuring out how to get the old faucet removed. I am pretty handy and do a lot of home maintenance, but I had never seen one of these faucets. My wife wanted them replaced, and I spent about 30 minutes trying to remove the first one without a lot of success, I did not know about the 5.5mm allen wrench or the locking rings once you get it loose. Great help, so thank you !!
