How do you turn the heating off?
@wainra200321 күн бұрын
Does it have manual control
@DynamicThings18 күн бұрын
@@wainra2003 you can manually override the programmed temperature between time slots. If you mean you turn it on and you turn it off, no. If you get to grips with the time functions and different modes there are work arounds. On/off controls are not compliant with energy efficiency/building regulations. It is also not the most effective way to use your heating system broadly speaking. I would really suggest getting or at very least doing a comprehensive heat loss calculation on your home. You can use this information to see the rate of change in temperature at home and this allows you to set the timing functions so you won’t want on/off type control. The general assumption for most homes with good insulation is, you want to keep a fairly consistent background temperature (setback temperature) then top it as you occupy the space. A lot of comments over the years have been asked about what you want and I know it can be frustrating but there is some good videos explaining these concepts and best practises in depth from people like HeatGeeks. Hope that helps 😵💫

Thanks for this. Just moved here and it was a confusing piece of equipment 😂 we are wondering if you know how to use it to turn off the heating completely?

How do i re pair this model to the wireless router?
@HoneymoonwhispersАй бұрын
I hate this thermostat
@DynamicThingsАй бұрын
@@Honeymoonwhispers you have lots of options now. All programming is similar in many thermostats and can be a little 🤏 frustrating 😂 through the actual thermostat itself especially if they have only given a few buttons like on this type. Unless you go to a ‘smart’ thermostat that will also let you use an App to make the settings through a guided setup expect a similar experience with them all. Except things like the ‘Hive’ thermostat range which has a guided setup built in. (However even less buttons!). If you don’t want to go that route I would recommend you look at something with a mixture of button press and slide switches (more old school/mechanical) that can be a bit more intuitive depending on what you are used to but just as efficient. Talk to your local heating engineer and tell them what you want it will save you a lot of trouble and time and maybe even money if you buy the wrong thing. If you do talk to someone. They will ask what you have now, give them that information and little brief on what you don’t like about it. Tell them what you want, try not to just say things like “I just want the heating to turn on and off when it should and go off on a rant about how crap it is.” (They hear it all the time) I know it’s frustrating but it will be a quick way to get the same thing again and not make progress if you don’t elaborate a bit more. A good example would be, “I have a Combi boiler/boiler with a water tank the make and model of my boiler is XYZ. I want to be able to change the settings at different times of year but without too much messing about. A thermostat like a Honeywell ST9100C (look it up) looks like it would be better as it I can turn the heating off/on/boost or override it by simply sliding a switch or pressing a button and it has a little flip down cover that shows how to change settings printed on it. You could also mention that you are happy to connect to your phone or don’t want that as it may add more frustration if you aren’t ‘techy’. Does it need to be pretty looking or is it going to be hidden away or just not fussed? They will be able to give you an idea of how much it will be then. Note this becomes more in depth depending on control strategy, regulatory issues, installation restrictions and limitations so the heating engineer will want to come and visit more than likely. Hope that helps a few people.

Somebody reinvented the wheel when they gave this bloody thing to the world. My ex was my go to for central heating (plumber/gas engineer) and he’d supplied me with this for my new house saying it was ‘simple’ to operate. Thank god for your video - I think I’m home and dry with it now - fingers crossed. Clearly the b***ard knew what he was doing when he left me with this…we no longer speak hence me struggling to work it out on my own…oh the absolute irony 😩🤬

Covered except for how to use the reset button? Do you have to poke something down it? as it doesn't seem to be a 'button' in the normal sense, just a recessed thing.

Can you just use the new control unit, with the original receiver, i only use my heating in an on-off situation. I bought a brand new RT500RF, matching my existing system, as i am pretty sure my control centre is faulty and the receiver is ok Do you have to synchronise the new control unit to the old receiver if only using it for on-off purposes or will it only work with the new receiver as well I find it hard to believe they would be matched and need both replacing Thanks
