After finally finishing reading the book, I'd say that it's more interesting technically, but I care more about the musical and its characters. The musical is more cliche than the book, but I like it more.

I watched the musical and read the book. What I find interesting, is that in the show, Christine agrees to go out with Jeremy, but in the book she rejects him and it never really confirms if they ever go out. I can't say which one is better. Also Rich becomes more of a friend to Jeremy once he gets his SQUIP. But in the show, that doesn't really happen. ALSO!!! Michel goes to jakes party and it never shows him having a mental breakdown or something like that, he is in the bathroom with an Asian girl. I LOVED the song Micheal in the Bathroom so much, so this was a little disappointing. Overall, I think the book is worth reading and the musical is also worth watching.

I just finished the book, and honestly it felt more complete to me than the musical (more character devolpement, felt edgier but more real; defiantly can tell it was released in 2004 (not a bad thing imo), i really like the ending. Though i still love the musical, its definitely a lot more family friendly per se? not sure the words to describe it exactly
