It did help, makes the inside of the truck feel more solid. Heat wise I do not notice any issues there so it seems to be working.

Yes I did unfortunately. Stock shorty's would work but I wanted to go all the way with the long tubes so I made it fit.

@stixracing right on. I just got a set of eBay long tubes for mine but I won't be dropping the motor in for a few days. Hoping they fit, but suspect they won't.

It is a stock 5.3 from a 2002 Chevy avalanche. Using upgraded summit springs and summit 8713R1camshaft. Long tube headers 3 inch to 2.5 inch at the muffler.
