I thought about moving my main hand to the left side, because there's a setting you can change that does that, but it drove me insane using it because i'm so used to the main hand being on the left so I changed it back.

The reason I have 2 week long minecraft phases is only because my life gets so busy that when I do get free time, it normally doesn't last more than a week or two, despite my love for the game.

My opinion on the problems and solutions. 1. Burn out, people don't know how to limit themselves 2. If you make it a social event, then people play longer. Have community projects and tasks for everyone. Such as nether highways, community farms, pvp arenas. 3. Limit playtime. This prevents burnout and other people from feeling left behind because Timmy no-lifed 100hrs. Only run it when a group is available to play. That way, people can interact and chat while playing. 4. Player selection. D&D, have the session 0 conversation. Find out what everyone wants from the server and set expectations. One of my session 0 suggestions is telling people their expected not to cheese things or use unintended mechanics (using nether roof, duping farms, x-ray). That's my personal opinion of an element that makes ideal playthrough.

"Only run it when a group is available to play. That way, people can interact and chat while playing." This could work for some groups, but be careful, as forcing limited playtime to prevent burn-out doesn't really help them learn how to limit their play time on their own. A lot of players will have the self-motivating projects and will just enjoy being able to play on their own time, and limiting that might dis-incentivize them from playing. Just another thing to think about during your session 0. GL out there

Cool video. Watching it I also remembered how frustating is that distant horizons mod doesnt work on multimc launcher, It literally just doesnt load anything 😥
@lefthandedbread3 ай бұрын
I use prism launcher, which is basically a fork of multimc but more relaxed in following Mojang EULA rules. Distant horizons is just hard to get working in general. I had to allocate like 24 gigs of ram and let the terrain load in for an hour before it looked substantially better than vanilla at a playable framerate.

I have on and off been running servers for a group of 10+ friends for over a decade now. We’ve had so many good memories playing, but honestly the best times we had were during roleplay worlds. In a lot of ways, we would basically be playing dnd before any of us really knew what dnd was. I’m talking a pantheon of gods everyone chose from to worship, encroaching world ending events everyone needed to stop, etc. I don’t think most groups need to go that far with it, but having set goals and roles to play really helps build boxes that let you find fun ways to go outside of in a game like this!

That's such a creative way of playing the game. Really cool story, thanks for sharing it!

@lefthandedbread3 ай бұрын
I used the distant horizons mod and bliss shaders, but there isn't a multiplayer compatible version of that mod unless you really know what you're doing. The devs are actively working on it though so hopefully soon.

I loved this little chat. Now I’m thinking of making a board of server projects people can take on and then reward them with diamonds/ancient debris to give them incentives to make smaller builds and also provide the ideas in case they don’t know what to build. Ex: build a blacksmith shop in town and get 5diamonds. Just fun little contracts

Great video, many good advices. I've just recently learned that you need to teach yourself to play games with open world and creativity. I don't usually play on servers, however few advices works too on singleplayer. Slowing down, and trying to make some small projects and gradually making them bigger is, in my opinion, one of the most basic and imoportant thing that should be done to gain pleasure from playing
@5aiv.3 ай бұрын
i think simply put you need to have friends who have the motivation and willingness to go further than just progressing to netherite and stopping there, for me there's so much things i want to do like create all these resource farms so i can have everything i need, and like undertake huge building projects and all that stuff

This is a really good idea for a video as I think I have a lot of insight that I can give that doesn't get covered in something like Xisuma's server hosting series, because hermitcraft has a much different structure than casual SMPs. I'm just really bad at more structured content like that and need to think more about how to approach it in a way that it actually ends up being done.

Love it, lol. Fun tip, if you are exporting a 1080p video, to increase the bitrate on KZbin, render it as a 2k video. Though the video will still look 1080p because it for the most part is, KZbin will grant it a higher bitrate, and therefore make your footage less grainy. Excited to see more!
@lefthandedbread7 ай бұрын
In what software? I use premiere pro and OBS, and I set my bitrate to like 10,000 or sometimes 25,000 on HVEC encoding, but I still get compression artifacts. My best guess is that my OBS bitratesettings just aren't sticking.
