Hi very well presented. What is the foot print of the saw ? How much space do I need?
@BobsTwoCarGarage7 күн бұрын
You can get all that information on their website (www.sawstop.com) but it depends primarily on the model and fence length you buy.

Thanks for quick response. I loved your set up. If you would give me your measurements I highly appreciate. Thanks again.

I am assuming you never put a floor in it right? So when the way you built the roof. Couldn't you drill some seep holes to allow the water to drain? I would have lids on my cans anyways even in a enclosure. But I drill holes in my cans also so even if water gets into the cans it would drain still. Looks great btw we will be building one like this here soon dam animals never quit eating our food.

Yep, no floor

NEVER USE A POWERWASHER!!!!!! That is basic. You ruined the teak that’s why you have the “fuzz”.
@BobsTwoCarGarage22 күн бұрын
I get that comment a lot so maybe there’s some merit to it. However, it worked well for us and the finish has lasted over time. My washer was not the heated type maybe that is the difference.
@garretkom25 күн бұрын
I thought using a power washer ruins the teak!!!!!
@BobsTwoCarGarage22 күн бұрын
Didn’t ruin mine. Power wash was not heated.

My post has a metal rod in the middle of it . Can it be replaced with your method. Not sure how the wood immerses into the 6 by 6 post.
@BobsTwoCarGarage12 күн бұрын
Vertically through the middle? That’s something I’ve never seen. Regardless you should be able to work it the same way. Might be more difficult to remove the old one.

Hi Bob. Great post. I have a similar setup but I'd like to remove the middle posts. I plan using steel angle to support the awning/porch and replace the existing rotted posts but can't figure out how to temporary hold the awning in place. There are 3 8' 4x4 horizontal beams, and 4 4x4 holding them in place.
@tabou7513Ай бұрын
Pretty but way too expensive.

Isn’’t the edge metal flashing nailed to the fascia board? How do you nail the flashing from the top once the fascia board is installed?
@BobsTwoCarGarage7 күн бұрын
Yes, but you will be cutting them when you are cutting the other nails.

Wouldn’t you want an air gap to dampen vibration between the two rigid foam pieces?? Like soft foam damper furring strips seems like it wd have improved the STC. Has anyone used Homasote in lieu plywood or drywall as a sheathing? I wd think the Homasote has better sound dampening and is fire resistant. Insulated glass w/ good STC acoustical insulation properties) ratings also has an air gap (or is argon gas filled) vs being laminated together. I think you can buy insulated glazing but it shd have soft gaskets or setting caulk to prevent rattling /vibrations in the frame.

Can u leave a follow-up comment after two years? Did the product work? Have you had to reapply? I finished mine with Helmsman spar polyurethane and it barely lasted a year. I’m not satisfied with what I used.
@BobsTwoCarGarage12 күн бұрын
We have applied more oil after a year. Varnish requires scraping and sanding once it starts peeling so I’d suggest oils. Teak oil or something like that.

Never, never, never, never use a power washer to clean hard wood and teak. It distructs the wood.
@BobsTwoCarGarage11 күн бұрын
No it doesn't, but i get that comment a lot so it probably depends on how much pressure you use and it's probably a good idea not to use heat. I'm going to do a little more investigation and probably makes some notes in my description.

👏🥰Thank you… maybe I’ll get to see it for myself someday. I used to visit one of my cousins in Whittier. It would have been nice to know a church family there. Grateful you’re sharing the blessing of your carpentry. It’s a beautiful thing to inspire kids witnessing what they can be someday. I loved the old days of sanding next to my Dad. Way back when…. In the 80’s.🤭Hoping you got a giggle with your sermon this Wednesday. Appreciating the chance to watch you work in the North.🎉~Sheeara, Alaska

👏🥳Fantastic! I was literally just thinking… “you know what I need?!🤭An adult hamster wheel!”🎉This probably sounds like a joke but I was on Amazon before I found you. I’m a filmmaker which basically translates into saying I have Peter Pan syndrome.😉Now THAT is the actual punchline. Responsibility isn’t lost on me so… I do my best work with everything and everyone. I’m so enamored by “how, why” and all the questions that would have led you to this quest. As you said, so well, nobody else could do the job as great as the person allowing themselves to be worked through. Finding the wisdom of the past and using it to build dreams while we’re here. Thank you for sharing what your dreams are made of with us. I’ll just be over here subbing, liking and making TT’s. If you’re ever over there. Looking forward to the content you bring.👏🥳Sending my best prayers and appreciation to your team. I’m going to be disassembling pallets in the snow for years now! Hopefully you get a giggle imagining that!🤞🤣🎉Happy Wednesday new friends. Very HUGE cool factor with this project!🥳10/10 easy🎉~Sheeara, Alaska

The only thing I did not understand was how he replace the nails at the top that he uses multi-tool to cut off obviously he can nail them from above with the fiberglass shingles. Anyone know? shingles
@BobsTwoCarGarage3 ай бұрын
It’s not necessary to replace them. They don’t hold up the fascia.

Hello sir, I was wondering if it was at all possible to have list of materials and dimensions of the pieces, and possibly plans for one enclosure. I would like to build these with my Boy Scout Troop. It would definitely fulfill their requirements for their woodworking badge. If that would be possible it would be much appreciated. Thank you Al Collins Rochester NY.

Don't go back with concrete... concrete is why they rot. Just go back with dirt and tamp it. It will be rock solid... way more than concrete and won't rot due to the concrete creating and underground pool everytime it rains. You'll get even more life out of it if you soak the bottom of the post with used motor oil. Then pour some around the post a couple times a year. It will out live you.
@BobsTwoCarGarage11 күн бұрын
Concrete is not why they rot, just dirt is bad idea. The motor oil or something similar is a good idea.
@asandiegoguy20 сағат бұрын
This is rubbish. No reputable fence builder would do this. I would, however suggest replacing wooden post with metal post, especially if termites are a problem. I’ve been replacing my rotted post with metal post as needed, and they show no signs of degradation.

Run as far as you can from this advise. NEVER power wash, especially high pressure inches from the wood. You will ruin your teak's natural oil that makes it durable. Notice he suddenly says it has a fuzzy surface and NOW needs sanding! YEAH you etched and destroyed the surface with your frikin 2500 psi wash! This is NUTS, please ignore this knuckle head who admits he's experimenting! This is wrong in so many ways it should be deleted. It should be titled "how to ruin your Teak furniture!" The guy is a hack thinking he figured it out!
@BobsTwoCarGarage11 күн бұрын
Ouch, never been called a "knuckle head / hack" before. I get a lot of reprimands regarding the power washer issue so there must be some validity to it . I've actually amended my "description" to address these concerns. Our furniture has stood the test of two years time so I don't think I'll delete my recommendations. Guess you didn't like or subscribe, eh?

This is such an informative video, I wish I had seen it before I made my giant pegboard wall. My daughter and I came up with a creative solution for my downward sloping dowels so it's not a total loss, however when I make one for my daughter-in-law I will apply what you shared in this video, and I will use what I learned from my project as a what not to do! Mistakes provide opportunities to learn, and I really love to learn! Thank you so much! Happy New Year!
