Youre such a sweet soul! I want to go to korea as well. Ive heard from megan bowen that the staring is a cultural thing. When they like you they usually stare really hard😂

I found this video on 9korea.com and popped right over to KZbin to leave a comment; when you said you may sometimes come across as the angry black person, to the contrary you are actually quite beautiful and your lovely personality shines right through! I do hope that you'll start posting again, so we'll know how you're doing now!

Why people confuse black with Brown? I always find it funny when a black person calls himself or herself brown because clearly this girl is black not brown.

I don't think that a lot of other black people would've been as cool about the people touching them or staring at them. Speaking only for myself, I think I'd feel a little uncomfortable with that, I'm the type of person who wants to blend in and be treated like everyone else so bad. I'd try not to show it but it'd eventually eat at me. You have a very positive response to that. Huge kudos for having that kind of patience and understanding.

Your black skin as well as your hair called too much attention in Korea. I think they are more used to brown skin from Indians.

As a white person. Korea was the most racist country I have lived in. Been in Italy for years, been in Germany for years, visited many countries. Korea is 99% Korean. I definitely made friends in Osan, at Rhinos, Bulldogs and Osan bar and Geckos BUT korean MEN HATED ME, Korean women, well, thought differently.

I'm korean and my opinion : I think black in korea is not a big thing. people stares but just because of curiosity. black people come to korea, find foreigners jobs like english teacher, and leave soon. There is nothing to complain. But korean-chinese or southeast asian, they come, find koreans jobs, and will not leave. So in korea perhaps there are many racist but mostly againt other asians. This can be a problem later. sorry for bad english.

I just saw another video about the Korean Magic perm. Another youtuber in Korea with natural hair used it. Have you heard of it? What do you think of it if so? I ask because we seem to have more similar hair textures (possibly). :)

Attitude can change the people around you, change your attitude and you will change everyone around you. If you gonna think people gonna judge you, they subconsciously will pick that up and probably judge you. (Typed all of this before watching video, gonna watch now)

7:32 lol I work as a cashier, sometimes people do have mean faces, but as soon as I talk to them, they face brightens up. So I did learn that never judge a face by its cover.

That's funny. You go to Korea and call Koreans the foreigners.
@asdx888 жыл бұрын
I dont think that you assumed that by prejudges but I don't think Koreans dating foreigner is not because "foreigners are usually more wealthy". Most of expats here are English teachers and their salary is just as same as Korean girls working for a company and as most foreign teachers stay here about 1~2 yrs, the salary could be even smaller than average woman having a job. In my opinion, there are a lot of differences in foreign person and some people like that differences. :)

One thing I've learned about old people staring is they wants to say Hi and become acquainted but they are waiting for younger person to say Hi first. (culture) I am a Korean and whenever i go to real small town then people get really curious about stranger. In most big cities, Koreans dont say hello to stranger but in rural area, everyone kind of has to know everyone.

Very nice to hear that u are treated with respect. With regards to being hired because u are Black.... Is it because the Korean people want their kids etc to meet and get to know people from other nationalities , races, or religion etc ....so that when they grow up and work in a cosmopolitan city they have a competitive edge or are equivalent to the city kids. Its a extremely competitive environment for students over there. Like 99% of Asia.

I'm so sorry you felt this way in Korea. Ignore those racist people, keep in mind that they're just very narrow minded. I'm Korean and I love black people. I even wish to have a lot of black friends because I find them as humorous, intelligent and really talented. You're very courageous to share out your feelings on where everybody can see! Keep it up bro

OMG! The mean mug. Yes! I teach in a small town in Japan and I feel so bad sometimes that my resting face is apparently terrifying to people until they get to know me. I think my kids didn't know what to make of me when we first met but now of course, we get along really well. This vid is awesome. Living in a small town here, I think small towns are better than the bigger cities because you are seen more as a resident and not a tourist.

the young korean children. i would say their reaction is innocent curiosity. the older korean generation are either open minded and curious OR absolutely naive to the point of "What is wrong with you!!" You have a beautiful smile and I hope your experience here in Korea has been of good memories. I would have to say that the younger generations of koreans are more open minded to new things and cultures. Being a korean kyopo with tattoos,,,i've had my fare share of negetive stares from mainly the older generations that are complete strangers. enjoyed this upload enough to subscribe. look forward to your adventure here.
