And they also turn off their cameras and their mics when they don’t want to be seen. They say oh it might battery must’ve diedor I lost feed or the mic went out

One of the biggest problems is the fact that the police will hide footage or destroy it, or or edit it. That footage should upload immediately to a third-party that the police do not have access to.

"When ever a citizen complains, we have a private conversion about the video with them and gaslight them into thinking they are mistaken about being punched in the face cause it happened just out side the view of the camera. We then threaten them with filing false police reports if they keep insisting it happened." I think is what he ment to say. How about this, put every video of a complaint on an officer and let you're whole community judge the video.

If you genuinely WANT transparency, then why is it so hard to get? Why is it, for the most part, always "lost, incomplete, damaged or "missing""? Furthermore, we are paying "law enforcement" billions of taxpayer funds to extort, pillage, often times rape and even shoot us, QUIT CHARGING US 100's of dollars to get the information from the body cams. Release the information, before we have to sue you in order to get it. Until this happens, you will continue to be state funded road pirates.
@JohnBaumgartner-jp4ep2 ай бұрын
Take away the mute button or suspend the officers that happen to mute the video after they violate a citizens rights!

Things get a little fuzzy between what's "public information" and what info is "part of an ongoing investigation" and thus, NOT public information. Verbal admissions, even recorded ones, don't hold much weight in court anyway. There's also some weird stuff surrounding illegal search and seizure. Like... it's only an illegal search if the police don't find anything illegal or seize something that's not illegal. The law says one thing, but case law says something else entirely.
@alexispa412 ай бұрын
They often redact the footage so what's the point of turning on a mic at a certain point. Other than to avoid transparency obviously

But eating a sandwich, putting on mascara, changing the radio station, opening your console for an item alllll isn't and shouldn't be illegal. We should be able to touch our phones, especially if docked in the car, just like we touch anything else in the car. Those that can't do this without creating an accident, still do so when they grab a drink from their cup holder or put on their sunglass. Punish them for actual crimes after they happen, not all of us when no actual crime has occurred.
