My husband passed 2 years ago, this song was one of his favorites. He would sing it out loud every chance he got! Usually with his drumsticks that had no drum!!! 💞🥰 Awesome memories!!!

The Kinks never got the credit they deserve, their music rivaled that of all their contemporaries in every aspect.

Such vivid commentary in just a few lines. Rich guy, living in a mansion, with a yacht, and a car and a girl. Basking in the sun, drinking beer...and still bitching about how rough he's got it.

Notice how this song, Taxman by the Beatles and The Rolling Stones album Exile on Main St. are about British tax rates. The top rate was 95%!! Now THATS progressive! No wonder they all moved their business out of UK. Screw government.
@Alex-cw3rz Жыл бұрын
You do know this song is literally mocking people who were saying the tax rate was too high. He says the taxmans taken everything while, he has a mansion, Yacht and can just sit about on sunny afternoon doing no work. Not just that our GDP growth was higher during this period than any point since, inequality was at it lowest point, wages were inclined with productivity unlike the stagnant wages we have had for decades and tax revenue although you claimed they all moved away due to it being too high, when the tax was lowered tax revenue also lowered their was no influx.

I am sorry your brother is gone. But this a memory to cherish! My brother used to make up lyrics to awful Partridge Family Songs and sing them in the car. Not nearly the same thing, not even close. But I still enjoy the memory. I do regret not learning the guitar, just so I could have similar memories to yours. Or even just entertain my self. So happens that this is a favorite song of mine!.
