Arguably the greatest ever fight in history? 2 all time greats going at it for 14 rounds in what was more than just a fight for the World Heavyweight title....but rather the 3rd installment of a trilogy in what developed into a rivalry which got personal (especially for Frazier)!!! Both men refused to go down, with the final few rounds exhausting just to watch, let alone be out there slugging it out in that extremely draining heat of that humid evening! The thing about Ali v Frazier was their contrast in styles, but also the mental toughness to refuse to go down where even very good fighters would have conceded defeat (like Sonny Liston in the 2nd Ali fight). This must have been the golden generation of heavyweight boxing! In Ali, Frazier, & Foreman you had 3 in the very top bracket in one era, similar to Federer, Nadal & Djokovic in tennis. The battles between these 3 premier boxers remains the pinnacle of the sport!

What’s the track used

The Ali/Norton trilogy was one of the most competitive in boxing. I've watched these fights dozens of time and here's my verdict. The first fight Norton won in my option 5 to 4, three even. Norton not only pressed Ali in that fight, his punch numbers were high. For the second fight I awarded the fight to Ali, 6 to 4 two even. Ali had high punch stat numbers and won the first 4 round with movement and the jab. Now for the third fight. Very close, and it comes down to how to judge the fight. If your scoring on power punch stats, Norton wins 8 rounds to 6 with one round even. Conversely, if you scoring on total punches landed Ali wins 7 to 6 to two rounds even.

You have to realize Muhammad Ali would say a lot of things in the moment of a fight he didn't mean as a metaphor to describe the way he felt ( in this case how exhausted he was by the end of the fight ) but there is no way Ali was gonna quit. Belive me Ali was definitely going into the 15th round . It's kinda ridiculous to exploit Ali's words and draw your own conclusions to historys "The Thrilla in Manila " based on Ali's words he spoke in the midst of him being completely exhausted. You can't take everything Ali would say literally in the moment of something as dramatic as that fight was.We all know Ali's spirit was never the type to quit ( especially when he was so ahead on points ) and had the fight won .

Ali definitely stayed in boxing for too long and he knew it. It was sad but was his destiny. We talking about a man that lived 10 man life. At the age of 40 Ali accomplished became the man he dreamed. He once said” god gave me this illness to remind me that Im not number one, he is.

The music level is too high

Padilla had one of the best seats in boxing history. The endurance of these two brilliant fighters in all 3 fights was beyond epic, the fighters of today don't give me the same thrill as the Golden age for some reason. I think those two brought out the best in each other when they fought, Legends.
