My GRS Donkey Kong Jr. machine was $900 with over 7,000 games

Is That Gameroom Solutions GRS? If so, how do you like it? All I've heard is how terrible they are, so I'm honestly curious if you think it's a good machine.
@DrEd-th2lu19 сағат бұрын
@ I have had it about 2 years with no issues. I had it built like an Arcade1up with a riser to match the other arcade1up machines. I love it. Assembly, was a bit more complicated than a 1up, and not packed as well. Other than that it has been fantastic….

I was really disappointed with my purchase of this machine when I preordered a couple of years back. The controls are very laggy, sometimes like 2/10 second input delay, which is a game breaker when you're playing Ms. Pac Man on fast mode or Galaga at all. But it's not the controls themselves; pretty sure it's the response time of the LED screen which will probably never be fixed. Arcade1Up tried to make it right for me with a new stick and a partial refund, but the game is still very laggy and difficult to play. Others have reported this same issue but others have also said it works fine. I think it depends if you're used to the repsonsiveness of the original machine - this machine is NOT anywhere near as responsive and is tough to play when you're playing fast and used to instant response. I would highly advise anyone who wants to get this machine to try one before you buy it and see for yourself.

Bought the natural history pack 3 about 2 weeks ago, the code is redeemed but the tables won't download. Lots of people have this problem but Atgames won't even respond to mails or anything. Maybe make a video about that instead of promoting this bulshit company selling products by ripping people off.

C'mon, lottery, Daddy wants the new Stern's Dungeons and Dragons pinball machine 🐲 I started playing tabletop D&D and later AD&D in 78' in Jr High. Over the decades, I've played/play the computer version of D&D games from the likes of SSI box series, Baldurs Gate series, NeverWinter, ect.
@AmigaCammy4 күн бұрын
I've been looking forward to this machine for a long time and it's hard to express how disappointed I am with it. This is the most boring and uninspired playfield layout I've seen in a long time, it in no way recreates the look or feel of the world or the dungeons. Look at Swords of Fury for example, a machine that was designed to be D&D but didn't get the license, it sends the ball on a journey through dungeons and has a really cool boss battle level, and just captures the D&D feel better than this. I'm disappointed that we're forced to choose from a small number of pre-made characters instead of letting us create new ones. I don't see any fun ramps or wireforms. And this is from Brian Eddy! I thought it could be the next Medieval Madness. And the artwork just looks so... ill-fitting. It reminds me of the trash Stern playfield artwork from the early 2000s like Pirates of the Caribbean. Not that the artwork itself is bad, but the way it's composed on the playfield is just cheap.
@ddummer3 күн бұрын
Not being into D&D my initial thought when seeing the playfield was: "A bit janky dragon.. it moves robotic.. and what is that big blue thing on the right side?.. then you get to know.. ohh it is a thing in D&D.. OK... but the only purpose is to capture the ball... takes up lots of real estate on the playfield.. you kind of get a Jurassic park home edition feel all of a sudden... it feels like they were in a hurry and when they present all the features like it is the next big thing after sliced bread... but I bet the topper will be awesome.... ohh man... I really got cynical on this one. :)

Happy New Year Bill, thanks for the update. I am busting out my pc back log so I have time for all these tables! Banzai Run will be like the Steam version and switch the backglass to the main playfield, wish it would do that on the backglass but its highly unlikely.
@BillsRetroGamingShow5 күн бұрын
That's what I think too with Banzai Run...but still it would be cool if they could somehow make it playable on the backglass.

Pinball table madness is gonna put me in the poor house, especially buying for both the HD and 4K. But it's a happy poor house. It's kind of funny, but I kind of hope no wished for AtGames 4K Pinball machines come out since I'm already vested with the ones I have... unless Santa later this year brings it.

Very cool collection Bill, yours make me feel better about the size of mine. I was a comic collector in the 70's to the early 90s, and still have a thousand or more boxed up. Tom Baker is my main Doctor Who of Whos. Your Arcade collection beats mine, but its pretty good... Arcade 1Up Dragon's Lair, AtGames Ultimate Mini, AtGames HD Pinball, AtGames 4K Addams Family & Peanuts(my son's, but in my house(So mine 😉), and an old-time Arcade (QuasiCade) cabinet with the original XGaming control panel running on a Core 2 Duo HP desktop using MAME32 0.82 (The control panel works sometimes 😂). My main retro system that still gets regular play is my ColecoVision I've had since 82'. I also have an Air Hockey table. Finally, alot of Funko Pops and other figurine styles but mine are mainly of Thor (75%), Dungeons Dragons, LotR.(My son also has a large collection of Stitch, Snoopy, Toothless, that are encroaching more ane more into my space 😮). Not mention multiple computer setups (my grandkids like to lan with Uncle). It's sad, but it's a fact my wife God rest her soul would be skinning me alive, with what I've bought in the last three years.

on avarage on most multicade machines sold is in the 2,000 or 3,000 are using 60 in 1, 416 in 1, or the 3500+ in 1 jamma boards. the cocktail tables is usually below 2,000 with exception for high end one with 3 sided control panels and a monitor that can be lifted up. those usually in the 2,300 or more price rang. so, you're a little off on the prices range. oh course, you can mod mod the 416 or 3500+ machines by replacing the jamma board with Pandoras box or other method since Jamma board usually hit and misses.

Bill, I disagree with 2024 being a bad year. Maybe as a whole and with Arcade 1Up. But, for me, buying/upgrading to the AtGames 4K Pinball (minus the minor [for me, since I played and enjoyed the other tables] hiccups with the ZEN lag issues), as well as getting a long wished for Arcade 1Up Dragon's Lair definitely stretched my budget but also created a fantastic year for an aging 60 year old average Joe arcade fan. I understand the top tier fan base, you tube reviewers, and those with quite a bit of disposable funds would think otherwise. In regards to a multicade I do have The AtGames Ultimate Mini, as well a very old Quasicade (I never heard of it) cabinet I bought at a thrift store about 15 years ago that is using a 1st gen Xgaming control panel, powered by a HP Core 2 Duo desktop computer, running MAME32 version 0.82. So, I am "interested" in a newer "affordable" multicade in the foreseeable future. I do enjoy and appreciate watching yours and a couple other you tube channels, it's kind of like the old Sears Christmas Wish Catalog that I would drool over and circle what I hope to get. 😂

Polycade ain't for me, but I am glad its out there, esp since they offer a BitLCD, it could have been a viable option at Kickstart, now its just priced out for what it is, 24" 1080p screen, you can get a 50" Multicade with a BitLCD for the same coin. Now the Unico is more up my alley, if they put out a 32" version with rotational screen I will bite.
@tedadamgreen8 күн бұрын
I think a multicade can complement a home arcade greatly for a ton of games in a cabinet that is themed to be either a multicade or a single game that hasn’t been replicated by a mass market maker. (What I am working toward) But a single game focused cabinet from A1up or similar has tremendous value for aesthetics and plug-n-playability. Lot to be said to just walk up, turn on and start up. The look, feel and relative ease is so nice. MultiCades seem to take a bit more work to manage but the reward is tons of games. That said, Glen’s Full Sized Buildacade is the single thing I am looking forward to and it is the ultimate old school mutlicade Thanks for a great video

I have to agree that multicades are the way to go moving forward. Every machine I own now is a multicade (6 iiRcades with either an MIA board or a Viper, a modded Star Wars and my custom made NES Retro-Cade).
@retrolizardscustomarcades8 күн бұрын
Multicade companies have been around for years and prior to the companies mentioned in this video. Just about everyone in the community has some type of multicade in one way or another.
@BillsRetroGamingShow8 күн бұрын
I agree with that, and even mentioned the fact that multicades have been around a long time in the beginning of the video. But, it feels like the home arcade space has been more focused on arcade recreations with companies like Arcade1up the last few years. This is more of a commentary on people not caring about that anymore and moving away from multiple machines in their home and back to multicades.
@retrolizardscustomarcades8 күн бұрын
@ people forget that arcade1up became popular because they were cheap to buy and mod into a multicade. Technically the companies mentioned aren’t multicades. They’re just empty shells ready to do what you please with. Other companies already make products like these. IE: for $1200, graphics of your choice, plus shipping, I can send you a shell prebuilt ready for you to add whatever games retro games you want or include games and call it a day.

Nice detailed review Bill. I was thinking about finally getting Class of 81 because it's so 80s and love that cabinet. But screen and control panel being one piece I don't think I could pull the trigger now. Plus screen being washed out a little due to angle. I agree wish game selection was a little better too.

Bill, I'm SO HAPPY you're enjoying these new tables! Always cool to see you having a good time :) As for me, to answer your query, your video did help me make a decision on these, and unfortunately, I'm going to pass. I think the stuff that's really turned me off from Magic Pixel Tables since their early Deluxe table days is the creepy and repetitive callouts and the horribly overused midi program they use to force music into every table. The artwork in this pack, if not A.I., screams of it to me, and just isn't appealing to my peepers. But everyone has different tastes, and for those who love these, nice early Christmas present :) Still working long and hard on my AtGames 4KP review. It's taken on a life of it's own and I can't wait to see how it turns out :) Thanks as always for the reviews Bill! vgv

@BillsRetroGamingShow15 күн бұрын
It doesn't do that in play. It's either the way I'm recording it or the video editor I'm using. I'll probably look to getting better editing software this next year as I seem to get this from time to time capturing gameplay.
