Correct me if I'm wrong, but were there certain markets that only had UPN affiliates, while some other markets only had WB affiliates?
@connroКүн бұрын
Yes that’s correct, but local cable operators could sometimes offset this by carrying a national broadcast of the absent network.
@TommyBuskulic-u2kКүн бұрын
@@connro It's strange how these markets had affiliates of one network, but not the other. I was especially surprised how (in past generations) every market had a CBS & NBC affiliate, but fewer markets had an ABC affiliate (like you showed in Part 1).
@TommyBuskulic-u2kКүн бұрын
@@connro Carrying a national broadcast of the absent network? I don't understand. Was that the same as the secondary affiliation with CBS, NBC, & ABC from decades ago?
@TommyBuskulic-u2kКүн бұрын
If UPN was placed under the control of Viacom instead of CBS, would UPN still be around today? Or was its collapse inevitable?

Fun Facts: ABC secured a stable future for itself by purchasing the broadcasting rights of NFL games on Monday Nights, starting in 1970. FOX was able to outbid CBS for the broadcasting rights of NFL games (primarily from the NFC), starting in 1994. However, FOX's purpose for getting the rights to broadcast NFL games was just a means to its ultimate endgame: gaining more TV affiliates for FOX.

I'm still subscribed and I'm ready to be notified about the WB episode. It might never come out, but hey, who knows what might come in the future? More importantly, I hope you're doing well all these years later. These videos are awesome.

Richard Dawson made a film appearance as a game show host, like the "Smash TV" video arcade game, called "The Running Man," with Arnold Scharzenegger, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Maria Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto and Jim Brown

This is just a personal opinion, but Richard Dawson seemed to whisper & meow a lot, that was very creepy even in the 1970s & 1980s. I'm saying, "Richard, stop, your creep value is already through the roof." None of this is to say he was a terrible human being. Also, I never understood this from the game show host perspective, but why did they always have to move things along fast? Isn't there a button in the control room that reads EDIT?

Update to the Rock Feud pilot that was being discussed starting at 22:11 .... Wink's gonna show it on January 10 of 2025! (the scheduled video placehoder is already up, along with a preview of what's to come)

The screenshot at the end of that teaser was from this video, indicating Wink likely saw this and got the pilot. It already made me cringe just seeing the over the top style.
We may never see the rock feud pilot? Nope, it's been found!

There was nothing at all wrong with Dawson's kissing of the contestants. Everyone was asked in advance and if they didn't want to be kissed, he wouldn't kiss them. There was nothing sexual about it. It was not inappropriate in any way. Yes, a lot has changed than the 1970's, but not all of it for the better. This is a prime example of taking ourselves too seriously and looking for something at which to be offended.

Les Moonves is a very controversial figure in the star trek community. He always hated star trek and anything sci fi for that matter, always wanting to get rid of Enterprise at any opportunity he can. He killed it when the show was just now getting its footing. He's a harbinger of death and apparently a massive POS.

Your content is very high quality. Do you have another channel, or did you retire to do real life instead? Your Dawson video was great, as is this. I watched afternoon Dawson as a kid; never much Combs. My favorite here was that you knew about, and found the footage of, Combs walking off set. Your characterization of Dawson's style was interesting. In the US, English comes off as classy, and Dawson as a performer tried to as well. The internet thinks he wanted to pass on Hogan's Heroes because it required him to have a low-class (Cockney) accent. Dawson was thoroughly working class, though, leaving home at age 14 to pursue a boxing career. He genuinely bonded with these families, even as he loved the Hollywood high life.

You are so dumb. The network was in 5th place, not 6th. The WB was the lowest rated. So you are dumb as rocks. UPN stomped The WB in the ratings all 11 years. And that's why don't have many viewers or subscribers

I’m not into watching Family Feud anymore but I’m happy that the show finally got a good heart that actually beats.. I grew up watching Dawson and it’s good that they got someone brought the show back to its glory..If Steve ever left the show the show wouldn’t survive and just fall right down the tubes..So if you ever see this comment Steve Harvey kudos to you for being the best beating heart for the show ever since Richard Dawson..
