I bought my original unit from Futurebit and a second unit probably 2021 off eBay. They are hard to come by these days. I've just sold the unit in this video ... my wife gave me an ultimatum to get rifd of some of my stuff and I just was not using the Apollo. Given it has kept good value (it is a good home miner, not too noisy and low on power) thought smart to sell. Another advantage of the LTC model is I think you can daisy chain them with a master/full node LTC model, very much like the BTC set up. Good luck finding a unit.

Well years later. i finally found the Panasonic for me it was actually a kind of a jackpot find i got it at my local Goodwill by my work for only $12 it was the Panasonic Ls86 8 inch portable DVD player. The hinges were in tack and no cracks or anything. Only problem was i found out that its missing the charger and none of the ones i have fit so although i did test it out and everything worked 100% I'm gonna need a cord that'll fit the jack of the player. But once i get the cable I'm set and plan to watch a few movies on it when I make sure the battery is ok on it. Which it seems to be for the couple minutes it was on before the empty battery icon started flashing. Oh yeah one more thing these LS86 players go for around $70 to $100 working so i basically made double my money if i wanted to sell this thing on eBay. Id say it was a good find and nostalgic to have a Panasonic again for the first time in many years

Useful post. I have used the Xacti C1 and until recently the CA9 for rowing coaching and taking still phots everyday on the beach. Sadly now I've broken the internal SD card connector due to a broken edge of the SD card so it can't use the internal storage. I've bought these on eBay for minimal cost compared to a GoPro and now looking for a replacement. So, I will check out the Panasonic version.

I had older an Time Capsule, the 5Ghz band started failing, so I replaced it with a 6th gen A1521 Airport Extreme and was so impressed with it, I bought a second one, disabled the wifi router portion on my modem. At around ~$20-30 dollars on eBay/Craigslist/etc.., they're a pretty damn good investment. I have 1 Gbps Fiber Optic, and with these routers on the 5Ghz band, I get up/down speeds of 600 Mbps. I just bought a 3rd Airport Extreme to extend my network.

Most important thing here : it is not designed by some chinese vendor. It's safer to use than any currently available routers that are all designed & made in china.

interesting ... I dont believe the chinese are spying on us, but I understand some people may have concerns. Now this was probably built in China! But I get your valid point.

These are still very useful as long as you have managed expectations. Finding working batteries is getting tough. I just finished upgrading a friends 900mhz iBook G3. It natively boots into OS 9 and OS X 10.4. Ram is limited to around 650mb. Still, it surfed the web really well in Arctic Fox. Office 2008 still has a lot of compatibility with newer versions and even Docs, as long as the file is saved as DocX. I was so impressed with the performance of that iBook, that I want to find one like yours. He bought this for vintage gaming, which it does well. My Power Mac G5 can access OneDrive and iCloud for my files. I think this G4 should be able to as well. The two modern websites I use the most that really do not work well on PowerPC is Facebook and KZbin. Yes, there are work arounds, but at the end of the day, my phone is a whole lot easier to use. iTunes no longer works on a lot of older version of Mac OS X including Leopard. You can listen to internet radio and NPR podcasts (they must still use an older protocol). I found a podcast player extension for InterWebPPC (FireFox) that works well. It is easier to download your podcasts and then play them through iTunes or some other players. You can listen to Pandora commercial free (even without a premium subscription) using PianoPPC (I think that is the name). At the end of the day, using a PowerPC Mac is a novelty more than anything. I have so many modern computers (work laptop, personal Windows laptop, M1 MBA, Surface Go) that even if I was in a pinch, I wouldn't have to resort to using one of my PPC machines. Though, there is something undeniably neat about knowing that I could get by using my PPC machines. It is too bad Zoom and Skype, even the browser versions, no longer work.

Good time of day. Tell me if you know if this LS84 model can work from the mains, without a battery. I have a 12 volt 2 A pen power supply, when I remove the battery from the DVD and just plug it through the power supply to the outlet, nothing happens. I had an experience with another portable DVD, and there when you unfasten the battery, you can plug the dvd itself into an outlet and it works. So the question is, does this ls84 dvd work without a battery, just from the mains?

Thanks for this. I use both of these, in Oct 2022, each with a wired connection and creating a wifi network around it. Have used these and 1st and 2nd Gen Airport Expresses as Airplay clients. Entirely happy with the results. 3 children streaming social media at the same time, and no complaints. Happy to recommend.

$80 in my view is too much for this old tech. It may still work well but you should be looking for very low prices on these units.

No, this is BTC or equivalent. There is an ASIC LTC script version by Futurebit: an Apollo LTC and a Moonlander LTC

There are basicly mo cheap ASIC Miners. Im thinking about founding a company making cheap USB Asics(price aim would be 20-30$ a Unit) and smaller Miner available that provide Mining and Node(Podminer around 400-600$ range) capable equitment. Unfortantely Raspberrys are unobtanium atm and China doesnt help either for my first prototypes. On Europe Mainland i get totally overcharged for buying one of the smaller Asics! First we have to weather the upcoming Storm.
@TechNewOld2 жыл бұрын
It would be great to make mining low cost . USB lottery miners good idea. No fans in the design. Or miners for a new currency. NTBC is a project worth looking at.
@IndianaStones12 жыл бұрын
@@TechNewOld I heard so many people talking about buying usb miners just to get familiar with it. I looked up new asics chip in the range for 2-3 watts 5 volt. And they could achieve a better hashrate than these old school block eurpters(they also are totally overpriced with 100€ back in the day i bought one for 15€) and others. I heard the pools start to reject them in several reddit entrys.

I am still using 2 6th gen airport to create a roaming network. They still works great, each of them broadcasting 4 SSID (combined both 2.4 and 5Ghz bands). They can reach a maximum speed of 550Mbps on both upload and download and is still blazing fast(with a total of 25 devices connect via Wi-Fi to both APs). I am still happy with them and will continue to use them until there are too much device for them to handle (like the latency spikes suddenly or the speed limitation (QoS) by my router no longer works well.
@TechNewOld2 жыл бұрын
Great to hear you are still having success … the device number will be the issue (modern routers/hubs good for 100 devices, and even that number may be too low one day). Shame that Apple does not release a patch to allow more devices , I’m sure it’s feasible .
@peterwan8162 жыл бұрын
@@TechNewOld I wish that they allow us to customize more like VLAN and customize each SSID, it’s encryption methods, passwords and frequencies.
